I’ll bet the process for creating a vaccine is not much different from other flu vaccines either.

There has never been an effective coronavirus(type) vaccine. The antigens move too much during replication. Even the annual flu shot is just an educated guess.

If you are betting on a cure...it would, maybe, OK. It’s not curing anything.

Cause, you know, testing these earlier would have been really dumb. Or not.

When you have panic, do you really need any other drug?

There was work being done on a vaccine for SARS and MERS, both were shelved when the scare subsided. Why would pharmaceuticals spend gobs of money on a product nobody would buy. SARS was a one off. MERS has too lethal to maintain a spread.

Moderna reports success in animal testing with it’s vaccine that started stage 1 today?

Shifting antigens? Yea, Captain Trip’s

” remdesivir “

Remdesivir is not yet licensed or approved anywhere globally and has not been demonstrated to be safe or effective for any use.

“Optimism grows that drugs from past outbreaks may treat coronavirus”

So now we can use those old meds in the cabinet after all?

Please tell me that you folks aren’t naive to think this will stop the Fake New’s non-stop stories of death and pestilence from this do you? They’re just getting warmed up! We’ve shown them that we are easily duped, and gladly fall in line for their steady diet of mass hysteria.

Folks, the media are the true winners here! They’ve successfully turned a virus that’s killed only 7,100 people into a full blown “pandemic!”

The Fake News has the power to cause mass hysteria, and to completely ignore things! Take a look at the death toll from H1N1 (swine flu) in 2009! They completely ignored it! This is why I cannot believe FReepers are falling for this Fake News con job! Where were all you guys in 2009? There were more deaths from swine flu, and most of you people were not going hysterical! What changed? I’ll tell you what changed...the Fake News decided to make this a pandemic and you folks who know better are falling for it!

The Fake News have beaten us, and we gladly let it happen!

I’m absolutely disgusted!

I heard last week that if they take the plasma of people who already recovered from Coronavirus and put it into those who are seriously ill it can help them recover

If you Google “coronavirus plasma” you’ll get a lot of hits on this. I’ve seen a couple doctors on talk shows really excited about this, too.

But even if it were 100% effective, it won’t take off; the CDC, NIH, Henny Penny MSM, etc., won’t let that happen. It’s not to their advantage to see this subside too long before November.

The Krauts are on it.

Camostat mesylate, a serine protease inhibitor, partially blocked CoV-2 entry into human cells, and even better when combined with E-64d, a protease inhibitor. Camostat is approved in Japan and “could be considered for off-label use.”

From a video posted in an earlier thread, Hydrochloroquine was the most effective and the 4-day treatment virtually knocked out the virus. It nearly halved what was required using chloroquine and was more effective.

You are posting results after the fact and end of those outbreaks. This one is just getting started. We haven’t got to the end of this one yet.

I would think the reason there are no corona vaccines is that except for two one offs,SARS & MERS coronas are colds and they come in many shapes and sizes and who will spend money in the millions to produce a vaccine for a cold? Now we will see if a corona caccine is possible, unless this burns out in two months.
And yeah shifting antigen Captain Trips. Only King novel I really enjoyed and IMO a close second to Salem’s Lot as a mini series.
