European journalist David Carretta posted a grim video Saturday morning that's getting a lot of attention on Twitter. It shows the stark comparison between obituary pages in an Italian newspaper on Feb. 9 versus March 13.
As Carretta's contrast depicts, the daily paper L'Eco di Bergamo had a page and a half of obituaries on Feb. 9, 2020.
On March 13, the obituary section took up 10 pages.

Newt's in Italy, he didn't think it was a hoax.

As an aside - I don’t see as many obits in the paper because the paper charges exhorbitantly for them.

Its just CIA fabrication propagated by a Deep State hoax. Yup!
Those thousands of dead in Italy sure are motivated to take down this Presidency! Another 400-500 will die there today.
I don't know what is more distressing about reading FR these days. The bad news, or seeing all the back and forth arguments from people about whether or not this is a "thing."

Back and forth arguments are not a bad thing.

I’m surprised all those dead Chinese had relatives who felt it necessary to pay for obituaries in Italian language newspapers. Maybe they really went native.

No, things really are bad in Italy.
First, their healthcare system was already a disaster (Berniecare). It couldnt have handled an outbreak of sprained ankles.
And, to prove that theyre not xenophobic like Trump, they left their borders wide open, allowing Chinese to flow in.
They sure showed us.

I was reading yesterday that Italy sold a lot of factories to the Chinese who brought in cheaper Chinese laborers so they could sell Made in Italy when it is a Chinese company and all the labor is Chinese. The article said there were some 350,000 Chinese laborers in those factories and there was no effort to stop travel back and forth even when all of China was locked down.

We don’t even bother putting obits in the newspapers anymore. Nobody reads them anyhow. When a family member dies, we put out the invites on social media, text (and phone calls for the older folks).
