Gun Sales Surging as Citizens React to Possibility of Civil Unrest over Coronavirus
Breitbart ^ | 15 Mar 2020 | AWR Hawkins

The Los Angeles Times reports that gun stores are one aspect of the economy seeing a surge in business as Californians react to coronavirus news.

According to the LA Times, the line of customers at the Martin B. Retting Gun Shop in Culver City stretched out the front door and around the block on Saturday. Many of those in line waited five hours for their opportunity to buy a gun.

A doctor who wanted to buy a gun at the store said, “I want to buy a handgun, I think they call it a Glock, but I’m not sure. I have a house and a family, and they’ll need protection if things get worse. The fear is that civil services will break down.”

Another customer, 39-year-old John Grove, said, “Politicians and anti-gun people have been telling us for the longest time that we don’t need guns. But right now, a lot of people are truly scared, and they can make that decision themselves.”

California has universal background checks, gun registration requirements, and a 10-day waiting period for completion of all gun purchases. So those who were successful in their search for a self-defense handgun Saturday will have to wait over a week to take possession of the firearm.

The owner of Laguna Guns & Accessories in Elk Grove, California, told the LA Times he has not seen guns sell at this pace since just after the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Marijuana dispensary and liquor store sales are also surging.

I can definitely say that I had no 9-11 stash and no Y2K stash outside of a gigantic pack of Scott Tissue. I think it was 48 rolls or something.

But I think Obama really spurred me into thinking what if... so I started collecting and prepping, hiking, camping etc.

I wasn’t expecting a Chinese Bio-weapon though, I have to say. Kinda uneasy these days, future doesn’t seem certain.

We went to the range today. They were very busy; they said first time buyers were coming into the store in droves snapping up whatever they could get.

Since people can’t buy any TP - this may be their signal to buy some defense for themselves. Friends, family, neighbors?

The gun manufacturers have been hurting big league ever since Hillary didn’t win.

Ruger is in dire straits.

Maybe this will help.

Too bad they did not have time to run a couple thousand rounds through them to get some proficiency.

Fired once, dropped once.

Who would have guessed?

If you are out looking for a gun now, it just shows how little you think ahead.

When this passes, most of these people will go back to complacent mode anyway.

Ever since Hillary lost the gun manufacturers have been hurting. There have been some real bargains the past year. I took advantage.

“I want to buy a handgun, I think they call it a Glock, but I’m not sure. “

Geez. This doctor should definitely NOT get a GLOCK. I ccw a GLOCK 26 or 43 +1. But i have been carrying for 7 years and spent the 3 months waiting for my permit practicing carrying it around the house, shooting, and taking classes including a legal class.

WOW, that gives me the creeps. Not even sure what he owns.

I went to a local gun range in Alpharetta GA tonight to pick up a few extra rounds of 9mm ammo and all they had left was range ammo. I looked in the glass cases where they displayed the guns and they had nothing but empty stands where the particular guns were located. The guys that worked there looked spent.

Try the pawn shops also, especially those that have good reputations in your town.

It’s the LA Times. You think they will seek out competent gunowners to interview?

Nothing goes together like booze, dope and loaded guns. What could go wrong?

I actually still have some of those novelty toilet paper rolls with OBunghole’s face on them.

Was saving them for my grandchildren for potty training (when I actually have grandchildren).

But I’ll break them out and use them if things get ... sparse...

I love my 1911s and my Glocks, but...I'd rather see a beginner get into a 1911 or variant before they step into a Glock.
