Geez. This doctor should definitely NOT get a GLOCK. I ccw a GLOCK 26 or 43 +1. But i have been carrying for 7 years and spent the 3 months waiting for my permit practicing carrying it around the house, shooting, and taking classes including a legal class.

I love my 1911s and my Glocks, but...I'd rather see a beginner get into a 1911 or variant before they step into a Glock.

I once took my daughter to a gun training course. I gave her a .32 Colt my then-wife had inherited from her father. My daughter borrowed a Glock from one of the instructors, and fell in love with it. I got her one. When I remarried after my wife;s death, my daughter moved out of the house. She has no secure place to store a gun, so the Glock remains in my gun safe. It's hers any time she wants it and can store it safely. It's a good gun, but I've been a 1911 fan, ever since I had to fire one annually when I was in the Air Force. I'' stick with the 1911.

I have a Walther PPS and a Barretta mini Cougar. Love them both.
