The president of the United States Soccer Federation, Carlos Cordeiro, announced Thursday night that he was resigning. The announcement comes just days after widespread outrage from a court filing from the federation that argued "the overall soccer-playing ability required to compete at the senior men's national team level is materially influenced by the level of certain physical attributes, such as speed and strength, required for the job."
"My one and only mission has always been to do what is best for our Federation, and it has become clear to me that what is best right now is a new direction," Cordeiro wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "The arguments and language contained in this week's legal filing caused great offense and pain, especially to our Women's National Team players who deserve better. It was unacceptable and inexcusable."
"I did not have the opportunity to fully review the filing in its entirety before it was submitted, and I take responsibility for not doing so," Cordeiro added. "Had I done so, I would have objected to any language that did not reflect my personal admiration for our women's players or our values as an organization."
Cordeiro said that he will step down immediately.

Pay by ability? Oh, cannot do that? How about by interest and by who generates the most income for the organization and sponsors? Oh, cannot do that?
It should not be possible for me to be less interested in this boring sport than I already am. But the antics of Rapinoe, et al actually cause my interest level to dip into below zero territory.
Damn, she’s hideous.
Heres an idea: separate into two organizations.
Put a woman in charge of U.S. Soccer. The men are third-rate players anyway, so who cares if the organization has a competent leader?
They would then be combined into one organization again after the trannies take over the women’s national team.
The US spends more money on women’s soccer than the rest of the entire world combined. Without that subsidy the women would also be “third rate players”.
Percentage wise, they are actually paid more relative to the income they generate than males playing men’s soccer.
Here’s a coo coo idea, go try out for the men’s team. I’m certain if a female athlete can contribute toward a winning team, they would be paid accordingly.
Remember when merit and ability mattered?
Egalitarianism is a cancer.
If women draw 25% of the crowds men do, what do they expect, equal
pay?
If the women do not like their pay arrangements then they should start their own league.
They “are” getting paid for their ability; their ability to draw crowds and revenue. They draw smaller crowds so their paychecks are smaller.
“..and the truth shall set you free.” NOT!!
The stupid women will destroy the entire league and will wind up with nothing, which is precisely what they deserve for their mindless raging and total lack of common sense.
In sports ones ability and performance is what attracts the money and as the man said, the women are simply NOT as good and therefore do not draw the money the men do. It has already been shown that the women actually get a LARGER share of the money their League draws vs the men and yet they still whine.
“...try out for the mens team”
LOL, fat chance there!! These girls actually LOST to a Texas HS team made up of 14-15 yr old boys.
I’m not so sure about that. U.S. women dominate a number of sports simply because a lot of countries around the world have very little female participation in these sports.
It’s the skill set that is different. Women’s soccer fundamentally is terrible. You add to that a lower level of athleticism in general, and basically you have something unwatchable. At least from a joy of the game standpoint.
What women really ought to do is unionizw beauty pageants! All that big TV money comes in and they are competing for one ofout of 50 to take home the right to some piddling scholarship in return for the next year’s labor?
