WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump on Friday criticized the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for being ill-prepared to test for the coronavirus and he blamed President Barack Obama for the situation.
"For decades the @CDCgov looked at, and studied, its testing system, but did nothing about it. It would always be inadequate and slow for a large scale pandemic, but a pandemic would never happen, they hoped. President Obama made changes that only complicated things further.....," Trump wrote.
In a follow-up tweet, Trump continued his broadside, ".... Their response to H1N1 Swine flu was a full scale disaster, with thousands dying, and nothing meaningful done to fix the testing problem, until now. The changes have been made and testing will soon happen on a very large scale basis. All Red Tape has been cut, ready to go!"

From May 1 through September 1, 2009, more than 1,000 kits were shipped to 120 domestic and 250 international laboratories in 140 countries. Once labs had the test kits and verified that their testing was running properly, they were able to identify new cases more quickly than before and no longer needed to send samples to CDC for lab confirmation.
The transition away from CDC lab confirmation testing didn’t happen overnight though - between April 23 and May 31, 2009, CDC influenza laboratory analyzed about 5,000 influenza virus samples, five times the number that were processed in a similar timeframe in 2008, and more than during any previous influenza season.
By May 18, 2009, 40 states had been validated to conduct their own 2009 H1N1 testing, with eight states having multiple laboratories able to do their own testing.

I strongly support the President, and I don’t mind his tweets at all. But he is more than 3 years into his term. I think it’s bad form to blame CDC problems on Obama. We should avoid the “Bush’s Fault!” approach to excuse making.

were manufacturing. Decision that was made this January.

Question for the medical types. If you HAD the C-19 virus and have recovered ( maybe not even knowing you had it ) will a subsequent C-19 test show positive for the anti bodes and/or the virus? Will it produce a false positive?

The solution is to fix Obama’s mistakes, that is happening. The next 4 weeks will be rough, then we will emerge. The problem will be hospital worker shortages when the close K-12 schools and 20% of the workforce will be forced to stay home, and hospital nurses cannot work from home.

“Healthcare” is a local function. State and local health departments are the backbone of the system - not the Fed Gov.
In addition to beds and nurse shortages, we are dependent on China for masks, equipment like respirators, and specialty ER masks, gloves, and protective gear.
Keep in mind, he’s been busy fighting off attacks for those three years. Just think of how much time he’s probably spent talking to WH lawyers on everything from Russia to every action he takes being blocked by some activist judge.
