U-571
U-571 is truly an "on the edge of your seat" film about a US Navy crew trying to sail a Nazi U-Boat to England in 1942 (won't explain how that happens, see the movie). In one scene, the boat is attacked by depth charges from a German destroyer. The crew turns to the young skipper for guidance and asks what they should do to save the boat and their lives. He says he doesn't know. Somehow they survive this attack. The wise, crusty Chief then has a fatherly chat with the skipper in a quiet moment over coffee. He explains that he let the crew down because they need to believe he knows everything, even when he doesn't. Why? Because their lives are in his hands, and they have to have absolute confidence in the ability, knowledge, and judgment of their skipper. A submarine crew needs to have confidence in their skipper. We need to have confidence in ourselves. So often, the difference between success and failure is not intelligence or innate ability, but attitude! Many people condition themselves into believing they aren't as smart or capable as other people. They suffer from low self esteem. Even though they are every bit as intelligent as the next person, because they constantly down-rate themselves, they think they can never be successful. Eventually, their belief that they are doomed to fail becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy. We must live with a strong confidence (not to say, arrogance) in our abilities and potential. This confidence will fuel our will to succeed, and once again, the belief we can do the job and succeed becomes self-fulfilling prophesy. We are all Winners! Chaplain Mitch Schranz

Good evening, radu, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
Still standing? Did you get to work on “your” crate at the museum?
To: PROCON
At least they didn’t have to move out and be more inconvenienced. Still a drag and I hope those guys get the house cleaned up completely soon so life can return to normal.
Antsy to shoot your newest acquisition again? :-)

Sounds like the rain tamped down the dirt pretty good! Hope it stays that way a while longer.
No, the farmers here haven’t been able to get into their fields yet. Still too soggy and after seeing tonight’s forecast for the next week, it’ll be a while yet. Rain every flippin’ day starting late Monday. *sigh*

It has for a while, but it won’t take many dry winds to wind the dirt up again.
MORE rain??? Say it isn’t so! I know you must feel like you’re growing Spanish moss in your hair!

No, we didn’t go to the museum today, dang it. The head honcho is out of town on business so wasn’t around to supervise. I hope we’ll be able to get back up there next weekend. I’m champin’ at the bit to dig into that crate! LOL

We could use some of those dry winds here!
Yes, more rain, darn it. It just will not leave us alone. And what will probably happen is we’ll have a dry spell later on when the crops are up and need water.
At least there’s no severe weather in the forecast. We certainly do NOT need any more of that for a while.

Yeah, the rain is bad enough when there’s too much of it, but to have the violence, too, would just be too much, especially so close to the last episode!

Yeah, this is a bad time to have rain so many days in a row. There’s so much to clean up after the tornados last week and rain will slow things down.
But there won’t be more messes added next week and that’s a blessing.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
