The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has introduced a new policy which would allow specific laboratories to develop and use their own validated COVID-19 screening tests before receiving authorization from the agency, in a bid to accelerate testing capacity in the United States.
The move was announced by the FDA on Feb. 29, as three of four new confirmed coronavirus cases on the West Coast indicated community spread of the virus across the United States.
The first American to die from coronavirus, was a man in his 50s with underlying conditions in Washington state, officials said Saturday. A second American, a man in his 70s with underlying health conditions, also died on Saturday after contracting coronavirus, according to a Sunday press release from Seattle and King County Public Health.

How many of the Americans that died were healthy and reasonably Young? it’s a serious question. If it’s knocking those people off it’s exponentially much more dangerous.

China and N.Korea published apps that told people where the hot spots were.
The deaths in Washington have all been in old folks’ homes and hospitals.
Oh.
Realistically, they probably couldn’t have fought off your everyday pneumonia.
That’s sad.
Doesn’t matter how old somebody is to the family that loses them.
But I am relieved that Many cases in the US have ended with people being fine and a number even having recovered at home and not in a hospital.
A hospital is no place for a sick person.
And old-folks’ homes are Petri dishes.
I agree.
The lucky ones avoided ARDS.
Is this the beginning of the Zombie Apocalypse?

I’ve read or heard 100 stories that say “underlying conditions” but none say what they happen to be. What are those, specifically? Pneumonia? Asthma? Diabetes? Cancer? Heart murmur? Hypertension? Sleep apnea? Restless leg syndrome?
