In December 2019, the first cases of coronavirus, or SARS-CoV-2, were reported in the Wuhan province of mainland China. Despite the efforts of the Chinese government and other agencies, the disease spread around the world. Public health officials reported cases on every continent. Coronavirus has become a global pandemic, and it has already impacted on the global economy. This, in turn, can radically affect our lives here in the United States. Gun owners remember how guns and ammo were hard to find because of the political climate at the time. What will happen if its a pandemic that affects our ammo supply? What gear will be affected? As we here at Ammoman are in the ammo business, well be looking at how a pandemic might affect your access to ammo. How much ammo do you need for a SHTF* scenario where the supply chain breaks down? How might it affect your ability to buy ammo and enjoy the shooting sports? Lets take a look.

How far do I have to walk carrying it?
The matrix

One box in your chosen caliber(s) is a start. (Not a half box, a full box.)
.22lr is better than nothing.
It's kinda like having real cash money available, though, more is always better.
Suggestion: Before each trip to the range, buy your ammo for that trip before you go plus a box or two extra, so you'll have a net gain in your ammo stash with each trip. Save your empties...
Also consider handloading. You won't save money, you'll just get to shoot more and in the future you'll be able to make your own, maybe. (Caution: If you start handloading you might acquire an appreciation, if not an affinity, for revolvers and bolt guns.)
What to get.....ask anyone who knows anything about survival, the answer is universally 22 cal.
Simply speaking, you can carry more of it.
There is never enough ammo, money, love or prayers.
And toilet paper. Don’t forget toilet paper.
World population minus 1, eh?
I’d have 5000 rounds if I hadn’t had an unfortunate accident on the lake a few years ago.
Plan on propping the unwelcome ones up way down by the chained driveway gate a mile away.....
How much can you carry in a pinch? I have a bit..... I have enough components to make a bit more. But if we have to bug out? Thats another tale.
(My bit may be different to your bit. Its right up there with that canoe accident we speak of often and lovingly )
My BIL sent me a gov’t paper from his department that once people in the US have no food for 7 days they will go feral. I don’t mean a shortage of food but no food.
The only safe area is if you live 350 miles from a large city because gas will be gone and the hoardes cannot travel that distance. If you live out in the middle of nowhere but live say 60 miles from a large city you will be overrun by thousands of people.
Why millionaires and billionaires are buying bolt hole ranches out in Montana and Wyoming in the middle of no where.
How Much Ammo Is Enough For When Things Get Really Bad?
Hw long do you think it will be before somebody else snipes you?
I’m not a prepper, but I’ve got food/water and other stuff for over a couple months. I’ll starve to death before I run out of ammo.

How much ammo you’ll want depends on if you’re holding down the fort or going to bug out, and if bugging out, how you intend to do it - car/motorcycle/atv/foot. You’re not going to want to carry hundreds of rounds (each) of several different calibers if you’re on foot. Probably not even on a motorcycle/atv.
“Holeee Moleee its a friggin arsenal!!!!!!!”
I remember years ago a male school teacher was stopped by the law and the MSM reported he was found to have an automatic rifle and 300 rounds of ammo. Truth came out and the teacher had a 22 semiautomatic and a few boxes of 22 ammo and was on the his way to a shooting range where he was a member.
WOW... and what do you have in your truck when you are going to the range for an afternoon of shooting? How would it look to gun grabbing snowflakes and woozies at CNN?

Ammo recall
*(yes, it’s satire)
I wonder how many rounds of SHTF prepper stored ammo has become duds because people dont store it right for long term.
I found 3000 round in my FIL basement stored in some boxes of junk the basement has alway been dry but musty smelling.
He was a hoarder.
They are all DUDS.
I have tried to fire a single round out of every box of 50 rounds.
No pew pew pew, not a one.
Yes I tried it in more than one gun.
I believe the ammo is about 30 years old.
Price said $6.45 for 500 rds.. Federal brand .22 LR. has a squirrel picture on the boxes.
Maybe some other freeper in Western Wa. can weigh in on the vintage of it at that price.
My answer:
A whole f****ing lot of it.
And a good bayonet.
