RALEIGH, N.C. A man who gave a fiery speech for gun rights two years ago in Greensboro won his party's primary in North Carolina's lieutenant governor's race Tuesday night.
Mark Robinson, who was seeking his first elected office, topped eight other candidates, likely winning the primary without a runoff and shocking pundits. He spent less than other candidates one a state senator who put half a million dollars into his own campaign and he didn't have the statewide platform or political experience of others.
He beat state Superintendent of Public Instruction Mark Johnson. He bested former Congresswoman Renee Ellmers.
"We're not pretentious," he said late Tuesday. "I'm not spreading a political message. I'm spreading a message of strong conservatism."

I would LOVE for them to join in the American Dream.
Playing permanent victim doesn’t make for a great life.
I wish the same.
By the way - several news outlets said tonight that the Governor and Senate races in NC will be the most important races in the country in November (next to the Presidency of course).
Now we can add the NC Lieutenant Governor race to those two which will mean, hopefully, a spotlight on Mr. Robinson’s candidacy will be part of the news on NC - so that his candidacy won’t be totally buried by the fake news media...though I expect them to try to ignore it.
It was merely a question not a condemnation
There are times one must rise above their raising
Damn the torpedoes. Full speed ahead, Mr. Robinson.
My husband and I were going through the GOP list for early voting separately. We both remembered his impassioned speech and came up with Mark Robinson’s name separately. Didn’t think he had a chance. Nice surprise.
I am friends with some of the people working in his campaign.
This man is an amazing candidate and one that should be followed closely if you don’t know about him.
I voted for him. Liked the FB plugs for him. Good off the cuff speaker.
The voter ID law that was recently passed following the statewide referendum to combat the voter fraud in the state was prevented from going into effect by a liberal federal judge. Roy Cooper won in 2016 because of the rampant fraud in Durham County and he has been the WORST, most partisan Governor in my lifetime and I just turned 70 on March 7. Hopefully, the vote for Trump will be so overwhelming that it will allow the Republicans to pull out the down-ballot races! I am no fan of Thom Tillis, but we need him in the Senate rather than Chuck Shumer's hand-picked "wolf in sheep's clothing" candidate who just won the Democrat primary!
Yes, - nice surprise is right!
Awesome! This guy rocks.
Thank you - glad you are active - and working in his campaign.
No, I didn’t know about him until another FReeper told me that he was a 2nd Amendment champion...so he got my vote.
NOW that I have learned about him, I will definitely be following his candidacy and will help in what little way I can with it.
Good.
I didn’t know about Mr. Robinson either until I came here and actually asked if anyone here had any recommendations for Republican Primary candidates for the Republican Party. Only way I would have known otherwise.
Am so glad he won also!
And I totally agree about your assessment of Cooper’s fraudulent “win” for governor last time.....and, yes, he is horrible. It will take as you say many more votes than usual in order to win in NC due to the fraud.
I hope President Trump will come back to NC and will highlight Dan Forest, Tom Tillis, and now Mark Robinson in their elections. That and we will all have to dig deep to support them financially since we know the lib machine will be pouring multiplied millions into these contests.
We need dozens, if not hundreds, of sharp, non-politicians who respect the Constitution to run in every state.
Sorry I mistakenly said YOU were working in Mr. Robinson’s campaign - but you said you were friends with some who did work in his campaign.
That’s so good to know and will definitely be doing whatever small part I can do to promote Mr.Robinson’s candidacy.
Yes he does!!!!!
Amen!
Yes, you have to vote for Tillis and I for Cornyn.
No worries!!!! In the future I will be helping out Mr. Robinson any way I can. They have lots of fundraisers planned and I have let my friend know I am ready to jump in when needed.
