World health officials said Tuesday the case fatality rate for COVID-19 is 3.4% globally, higher than previous estimates of about 2%.
Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press briefing at the agencys headquarters in Geneva. In comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected, he said.
...During a press briefing Monday, WHO officials said they dont know how COVID-19 behaves, saying its not like influenza. They added that while much is known about the seasonal flu, such as how its transmitted and what treatments work to suppress the disease, that same information is still in question when it comes to the coronavirus.

It remains to be seen. There will be countries higher...like stupid Iran...and then there’s us...scared into compliance.
Please try to keep the nastiness to a minimum, please.
You really are asking a lot, but at least it isn’t the religion forum, so there may be some grounds for hope.
I wonder what data they are getting that is different from the rest us. The statement creates more questions than answers.
We were being told 2% for so long now. So misapprehensions about under-reporting were not unfounded.
COVID-19 Mortality Rate Ping
WHO says 3.4% mortality rate worldwide.
“I wonder what data they are getting that is different from the rest us.”

Whom do refer to re: “us”? Who else keeps worldwide stats?
Well yes, prayer many help.
I wouldn’t take WHO’s word for ****.
I think that because there are so many people who get the disease and then either have no symptoms or have very mild symptoms and thereby never see a doctor that the actual death rate might be much lower.
3.4%? OK,maybe. Averaging things out the death rate could be 6% in China,2% in Japan and South Korea,1.5% in Europe and 1% here.
us = anyone that isn’t the WHO. Worldwide stats are collected at
The CDC
Johns Hopkins
BNO News
Worldometers
CNBC..fueling panic and hysteria at every opportunity.
WHO, headed by a Marxist who let thousands of his own people die in a cholera epidemic, has no credibility. The mediots take their pronouncements as gospel while demeaning and questioning our own people.
I always knew that 1% number was phony. And from what we are seeing reported then I think that this number is way too low too.
I am not sure we have accurate base numbers from China, and Iran.
Might be 2 percent.
The death rate is questionable because you are mixing different national statistics together. In China, they just sealed off Hubei province by force and told them to fend for themselves. In the US, we screen a ton of people and find the virus even though people show little or no symptoms. These people are counted in our statistics but not in China’s, who only count those dead and hospitalized. We saw that when we forced people together on that Princess cruise ship, a significant number got the virus. If we apply those statistics to Hubei province, we can estimate that there are a million infected, but only a few thousand deaths, which is much less than 1%.

What matters are total numbers. It is not a pandemic it is not even really an epidemic. It a minor disease outbreak being reckless exaggerated and hyped by bureaucrats trying to scare people into funding their rice bowls.
If this was the global crisis as being hyped by WHO and other bureaucracies , the death toll in China would be in the hundred of thousands or millions by now. The death rate would be in double digits across all demographics and groups.
It is not.
The article is nonsense. How can they know the death rate when they have yet to determine how many have contracted this virus? Answer is they cannot.
It is another in the ongoing attempt to sow panic and crash the world economy.
I’m just wondering if the WHO is still a “paid-off shill for the CCP”.
On FR it depends on the day.
