Very sad news but I expect to hear about more as bad as the destruction is. It’s a total mess.
It looks like the storms will reach us about the time I usually go to bed - around sunrise. And of course the line of storms that are strongest are tracking along the southern state line, and we’re just a very few miles above it. Looks like a late bedtime this morning. *sigh* No way I’m going to sleep before they get here, unless they suddenly die out.
Not expected.
Yep, election day and the last time we were hit by a tornado was election day 2016. That was the general and this is the primaries but the timing’s still unnerving.
I’m an election day voter and don’t want this day messed up.
Oh boy.
I guess folks will see it in daylight soon.
Prayers out to all people involved in this tragedy.
The weather channel is showing a lot of damage right now. Really, really bad. We have had four in our areas in the past couple of years, one hitting Jacksonville, AL and doing heavy damage, tearing down a lot of trees. It hit Jacksonville State University and did a lot of damage. We are thankful the kids were on spring break that night. Prayers up for these people.
Terrible! I hope all the Nashville Freepers are OK. We have them often in my part of TN. My husband has an appointment with his doctor at Vanderbilt on Thursday so we’ll be there. Obviously no damage there or it would be known by now.
5 deaths reported so far, not sure if all those came from Nashville.
I watched it go through Nashville on the various local TV channels, storm pretty much tracked a few miles parallel to I-40, the last I saw about 10 miles of I-40 east of Nashville is closed down and about 20 miles west of Nashville around the Lebanon area is closed, heard some of those big Interstate signs have been knocked down or ripped off.
Horrible! I read when I first got up it was two but you know it will climb as it gets daylight.
Up to 7 now, it will probably keep going as they go through the rubble.
Been through a tornado when stationed at Altus AFB - amazing what a few minutes can to towards turning a community into the leftovers of a war zone.
My prayers will be with those who are suffering and grieving in the Nashville area.

Zoom in on Nashville. The map pinpoints pictures of damage on social media.

Long-track highly tornadic supercell went right through #Nashville early this morning, and continues eastward. The rotation track is shown below between 12:30-1:30am Tuesday. Seeing lots of damage reports. Hopefully no injuries or worse. #TNwx #tornado

Thanks for information. Have a friend staying at daughters in Nashville . Just checked. Shes OK What station has the best coverage so I can point her that direction?
My former bass teacher lives and works there. I will see if I can contact him.
Thanks! Sure will.
Yeh, I lived through the 1998 tornado in N Atlanta. Lost half my roof and was cowering in a downstairs closet. The most terrified I have ever been. And yes it does sound like a train.
Nine dead, as of 14 minutes ago:
Prayers up!
