CBS2 has learned hundreds of people are being monitored for possible coronavirus exposure in New York state.
The Health Department says 700 people in the state have been asked to voluntarily self-isolate for two weeks.
That includes 83 people in Nassau County, 29 in Suffolk County and eight in Westchester.
Its important to point out there are no confirmed cases here, and no one in New York City or in New Jersey is being monitored.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says its not a matter of if, but when the coronavirus becomes a bigger issue in the United States.

A large number of ships are being held offshore. Delays in deliveries have already started impacting various areas.
My understanding is that the virus can last several days on certain surfaces....longer than most, but nothing alarming.
[[This reminds me of the 50s and polio...............]]
Yep- my folks lived through that time period, and lots of folks in their town got it- they didn’t fortunately- was a scary deal- Everyone was nervous about getting it- and seeing almost weekly people getting struck down by it- thank goodness for the vaccine-
Yes, people returning from China have been self isolating since about January 29th. Yet they make it sound like this is something new.
And the grandstanding started right after Trump spoke.
Now each day after, they need to come up with bombshell stories to keep the panic going.
They know something we don’t know. I wonder if it’s because of major airports in those places? Of course, if that’s the case LA and Atlanta should be on the list.
Cornell University issues new guidelines for Cornell-related travel
“This comes after a couple of people tested negative for the virus in the campus community after experiencing symptoms.”
They love this line
spray the heck out of the package with lysol- don’t know if that’ll help or not- if you’re nervous about it- wear gloves to open package carefully outside- get rid of box quickly- wipe down plastic covered item inside with bleach towelette or something- Wear a mask while opening packages too- keep hands away from eyes, nose and mouth while handling the boxes too-
over doing it? perhaps, but IF this virus erupts- then precautions like this will need to be taking place-
I was wondering about my Amazon China stuff too.
I read COVID-19 can remain on the surface for about nine days.
Stuff from China takes longer than that to ship.
Anyone coming back from China, Korea or Northern Italy should self quarantine for 2 weeks...but douchebags gotta be douchebags.
My wife works at a school. Douchebag parents come back from overseas and dump their wheezing, coughing kids that just spent 15 hour in a flying petri dish right back into school.
Stop. We were told weeks ago about this.
See my post above- spray box with weak solution of bleach outside, or in sink or something-
and yes, flues and viruses can remain on surfaces for quite a number of days I do believe-
Yikes!!
2019-2020 Flu season statistics:
29,000,000/280,000/16,000/200
Cases/hospitalized/deaths/children deaths
But lets drum Trump outofoffice over Corona!
This coronavirus has been reported to be able to stay on surfaces for over a week.
Thus, the disinfection of bank notes, in China.
I don’t want to sound alarmist here, BUT I am sick and tired of millennials destroying our language, like calling everything SURREAL, PENULTIMATE, and DECIMATED, for example. Now, I’m starting to hear them calling every increase “EXPONENTIAL” even though they have no idea what that is. I’m quite positive that exponential and geometric progressions aren’t taught in schools any longer. Make it stop!
Woodpile report re CDC:
Only three of the more than 100 public health labs across the country have verified the CDC test for use . It means no one has been tested for this coronavirus in forty-seven states. The kits CDC distributed are flawed. and none have yet been replaced.
What are the real numbers of coronavirus cases in the US?
As we say around here, “you can’t find what you’re not looking for”.

Only three US states can test for coronavirus, says public lab group
PUBLISHED FRI, FEB 21 20201:04 PM EST:
California, Nebraska and Illinois are the only U.S. states that can currently test for coronavirus, the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) told Reuters on Friday.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) last week said some of the testing kits sent to U.S. states and at least 30 countries produced inconclusive results due to a flawed component.
The CDC planned to send replacement materials to make the kits work.

So I, Grampa Dave, keep asking when we are told about results of coronavirus tests, Who did the tests and what tests did they use?
I think we need a map for just the United States and stop worrying about the rest of the world.
I remember eating the sugar cube vax at our school for polio.
