Yep- Those were scary times- My school days were after that period- but i remember folks talking about the outbreak back then- and about their friends getting struck down by it- One of my teachers, and a classmate had polio- and had to use those polio crutches that strapped to the arms- and the girl in class could walk, but dragged her feets when she ran- but she was a tough girl-
