Members of the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" U.S. Olympic ice hockey team are under fire for sporting "Keep America Great" hats at a recent rally for President Trump in Las Vegas.
The team initially was invited to be in a separate photo line with the president at last week's rally, but they later appeared onstage, according to The Washington Post, with many wearing the hats.
Trump had invited team captain Mike Eruzione, 65, along with other players to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" game in which they beat the four-time defending gold medalist Soviet Union team and later won the gold medal for the U.S.
Eruzione said he didn't know he would be introduced onstage or offered one of the Trump hats. Four former team members did not wear the hats, while 10 others did, according to the Post.
Eruzione, who is director of special outreach at his alma mater, Boston University, said he has received angry calls and messages on social media about wearing the hat.
"If we knew we were going to piss off this many people, we probably would not have put the hats on," said Eruzione. "That's the big question here. A lot of the stuff I got was, 'You guys said it's not political, but when you put the hats on, you made it political.' "

Well, phones and social media go both ways. If Eruzione is going to wimp out, then we have access to phones and social media, too.

Geez, Mike.... it was a political rally. How naive can you be? You’re 65 years old and it seems, shamefully, you have not grown up. Stand up and be counted and people will stand with you.
There’s a difference between capitalism choosing what bread they want vs socialism waiting for bread.
I’ll always appreciate his game-winning goal in 1980, but right now he should be doing something more respectable for a living — like working as a garbage collector.

I would love to know which 10 wore the hats. Many of these guys were from the Boston area. I watched the game in a motel in New Hampshire while on a ski weekend (it was President’s Day weekend) You could hear the shouting all over the place when Team USA won. Trust me, that really was seared into my memory!

Just short of 20 years ago, we entered the fray with the global war on terror, decimating the primitive sub-culture inspired to jihad by the likes of Osama bin Laden. And the nation CHEERED!
Today, we celebrate that Olympic victory with fond remembrance. And the commie/socialist- and jihadi- sympathizers JEERED.

Mr Trump is living in their heads rent free. Reminds me of how Sarah Palin owned Obozo in much the same way.
Two thoughts occurred to me:
He wasn’t attacked, physically or verbally;
and I found it odd that a Communist would attend a baseball game—it being as all-American as apple pie, and that sort of thing.
Don’t forget that Fidel was a White Sox prospect 70 years ago - Cubans love beisbol!
