In the 1990s, the US, Europe, and Japan manufactured 90 percent of the key ingredients from medicine and vitamins. But now China is the largest global supplier.
It seems like a reasonable time to take another look at my Full Measure report from August of 2018 about the fact that we have become increasingly dependent on China for our prescription drugs. Watch the video of the story at the link and read the transcript below.

Theres been a quiet but dramatic shift in where we get our prescription drugs. We are increasingly dependent on China. And that could be a major national security risk. Healthcare author Rosemary Gibson makes a convincing case in the new book: China R-X: Exposing the Risks of Americas Dependence on China for Medicine.
Sharyl Attkisson: In the 1990s, the US, Europe, and Japan manufactured 90 percent of the key ingredients from medicine and vitamins. But now China is the largest global supplier. Why the change?
Rosemary Gibson: The change is because when we started buying generic drugs, which are terrific because they can be a lot less costly than brand name drugs, we had to find a cheaper way to make them. And China was more than willing with its lower labor costs to be a place where companies could buy those key ingredients.
Sharyl Attkisson: Were talking about antibiotics, chemotherapies antidepressants. What other kinds of things?
Rosemary Gibson: Well, now, the generic drugs that were buying from China and Chinese companies in China include blood pressure medicines, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, epilepsy, antidepressants the whole range of generic drugs now that we are importing from China.

We could substitute Israel and India as suppliers of generic drugs.
They get most of their ingredients from China.
Already drug shortages showing up in India from this.
So if you depend on any daily medication, don’t bother prepping for more than 30 days. Your pharmacist won’t be allowed to give you a long-term supply.
Surprising? I think not.
Is no one worried that China could one day decide to put cyanide in all pills it exports to the USA?
For a while there, Lebanon was a big producer of pharmaceuticals.
The estimated number of supplement products increased form 4,000 in 1994 to 50,000-80,000 today. Out of pocket expenditures for herbal and complementary nutritional products are about $50 billion
In other words, the change is partly the result of the enormous growth in herbal supplements being offered.
Wonder how many congressmen and senators mad money to make dependence on China for our prescription drugs?
D.C. has no rules when it comes to money and power.
I make sure nothing my dog ingests comes from China.
No. It sounds like a bad James Bond movie. The retaliation would be in the form of nuclear missiles and I’m pretty sure our subs at Sea and aircraft carriers aren’t getting pills delivered to them on a daily basis from China.
I also think not wvery American take those pills at the same exact time so some might catch on before the rest die :)
Not all of these medications and vitamins are made at 1 factory and there is some form of quality control.
I’m more worried about them just screwing up the ones they make because of incompetence in a communist regime.
I guess I slow poisoning over time would be more realistic but it would be caught on to eventually. perhaps a lot of people would be damaged by then though. Anything’s possible

“China Syndrome: our surprising dependence on China for our prescription drugs”
not surprising to anyone who’s been paying attention ... and it’s not just drugs, but pretty much ALL chemicals because environmental regs drove the U.S. chemical industries completely offshore ...
That wouldn't happen either, no sir.
Does too, as we see every day. Either you are on the game or you are out and under indictment for some BS. They are serious professionals at corruption.
Yet the gamers will stab each other in the back it’s always about meme, thus no rules.
