There is a growing undercurrent in markets that say a battle this fall between self-described socialist Senator Bernie Sanders and President Donald Trump could be bad news for stock prices. As evidenced by the market’s strong run-up in 2020, investors have yet to exit stocks on fears of a big government Bernie winning the Oval Office. But his continued strong showing in debates and national polls may lead to some profit-taking sooner rather than later. The concern - Sanders shocks the market-friendly Trump.
“There is definitely kind of fear [among clients] if you get a candidate like Sanders or say Elizabeth Warren,” said UBS global investment strategist Jason Draho on Yahoo Finance’s The First Trade. For now, the Sanders surge is keeping a lid on the market potential argues Draho. “It’s more of a headwind that keeps markets from rising higher,” Draho noted.
Sanders is viewed by most rainmakers on Wall Street as anti-big business, anti-stock market and anti-wealth creation. In other words, bad for risk-taking in numerous asset classes, save for perhaps gold and bitcoin.

Agree. Yahoo is as anti Trump as there is. Any story they run should be taken as seriously as anything from CNN, etc. Yahoo is among the worse.
A comforting thought, but I am not so certain, for the following reasons:
1. Nixon was monumentally popular in 1972 compared to Trump today (re: Gallup Presidential Approvals).
2. The country has changed. We have been fed a steady diet of socialism in schools and colleges for decades, eroding the arguments against it.
3. McGovern's whole campaign was a fiasco - no mainstream Dem wanted to be his VP (Kennedy, Muskie, Humphrey, etc.), and after choosing Eagleton, he had to replace him at the last minute with Shriver. His convention theatrics were a comedy of errors. None of this will happen with Sanders - the Dem will have a tightly scripted convention as is the case nowadays.
4. The McGovern platform was out of step with the America and even the Democrats of 1972. The Bernie platform is the catechism and creed of modern liberalism.
And we said the same thing about some guy named Barack.
I read this AM that The Commie is up +6 over Trump in the average of all major polls. (I know, we don't trust polls and they said that the Pantsuit Princess was "absolutely" going to win in 2016, and Trump hasn't really started to turn his cannon on The Commie yet, but still..)
It's worth reading the comments sections on MSM articles to see what people outside of FR are thinking. It's staggering the amount of sheer, inexplicable HATRED there is for POTUS on some boards..so, while we all are 100% behind the guy, looking outside of FR to see what others are saying is a worthwhile thing to so also - and when you do, it's not impossible that a radical like Bernie "could" actually win, just like Obamba did. Thank our public schools and universities, not to mention the MSM and Dem politicians for several decades of leftist indoctrination..

This country is radically different from the country that elected Ronald Reagan.
If Commie Bernie were to win, the stock market would drop from 30,000 to 750 overnight. It would make the Stock Market crash of the 1920-30s look like a BB gun fight compared to a nuke exchange. The nation would crash overnight. Illegals would be pouring through Mexico to get to the borders so that on Jan 20th, they would crash the border gates to come in. The Chinamen and Soviets would be sailing their ships right up to the 3 mile limit, ready to dock and become pals with fellow commie Bernie. The US civil war would be cranking up. Patriots against the Chinamen and Soviets and commies here. All hell would break out and America would be done. Simple as that.
If there is a brokered convention, and if the smoke-filled room still exist, apart from Blooomberg, in the democrat party, none of the present contenders/placeholders/clowns will be chosen. Will be Kerry or the Witch.
There is going to be some major major dirt on Bloomberg coming out, suspect it will involve allegations involving women that make the ones about trump seem mild and tiny mike suddenly loses most of the law I liberal to liberal woman vote
At that point the dems reanimate Hildabeast or being forth the god of global warming himself algore

The media really don’t like Bernie either. So they are trying to pin the downturn on Bernie, and not the Coronavirus, which most ‘experts’ are saying. I have heard several entrenched democrats say that they will not vote for Bernie for any reason, which means that they must “off him” in some way...
I’m predicting that happens, and the Bernie Bros and AntiFa goons riot in Milwaukee and perhaps elsewhere.

I don't think he would have to. I think the bolshevik can be bought to take a dive for a mere million.
Many think Sanders can not win and when he loses it will damage the Democrat Party. Others see a bigger issue, that there are so many Democrats - especially young people - who idolize this old crank who wants a Soviet-style system for America. Sanders should be a fringe candidate but now there are a disturbing number of people who would throw everything away for communism.
