Secession fever spikes in five states as conservatives seek to escape blue rule
Washington Times ^ | February 19, 2020 | Valerie Richardson

You’ve got Oregonians seeking to cascade into Idaho, Virginians who identify as West Virginians, Illinoians fighting to escape Chicago, Californians dreaming of starting a 51st state, and New Yorkers who think three states are better than one.

Separation fever is sweeping the nation as quixotic but tenacious bands of frustrated rural dwellers, suburbanites and conservatives seek to break free from states with legislatures increasingly controlled by liberal big cities and metropolitan strongholds.

“Oregon is controlled by the northwest portion of the state, Portland to Eugene. That’s urban land, and their decisions are not really representing rural Oregon,” said Mike McCarter, president of Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho. “They have their agenda and they’re moving forward with it, and they’re not listening to us.”

In Virginia, the newly elected Democratic majority’s progressive legislation on issues such as gun rights has spurred “Vexit,” or “Virginia exit,” a campaign to merge right-tilting rural counties into neighboring West Virginia that organizers say has the potential to catch fire nationwide.

“To be honest, if this works — you’ve got a lot of red areas in this country that are totally dominated by a blue metropolis,” said Vexit2020 leader Rick Boyer, a former member of the Campbell County Board of Supervisors. “If it works in Virginia, there’s no reason it can’t reshape the political map.”

The authors of the Constitution never meant for a handful of heavily populated counties to control the fate of the whole country. Split eastern and western Washington, and western Pennsylvania from Philadelphia, rural Minnesota from Minn/St Paul, and split California into three states from about 25 miles north of San Francisco go 75 miles inland down to about 50 miles south of Los Angeles and north and east California.

They did it in the Civil War. That’s how West Virginia was formed. That is rarely mentioned in these stories.

It reduces their power and their tax base.

It would kill the socialist/communist takeover of the tiny minority of wannabe tyrants who have corrupted our republic. Draining the swamp is heave lifting and I’m delighted to see millions of people stepping up to the plate to assist our beloved President.

There would be much to be gained for the Republican Party for conservative areas of Oregon, California, Virginia, Illinois and Washington State to form their own Republican dominated states. That can easily be done with a law that permits conservative areas to form states but prohibits liberal urban areas from breaking off and forming states.

We do not need the states of Houston, San Antonio, New Orleans, Atlanta, Austin, Memphis, Charlotte, Cleveland or Milwaukee.

That would be too many states and too many Democrat Senators.

Don’t look at Alabama!

How about Haiti?

Rename to Port-Au-Prince on the Mississippi.

VEXIT needs to separate northern Virginia from the real Virginia. Just attaching the western counties to West Virginia won’t fix anything for the rest of us.

the problem is Spokane. Its a $hit hole compared to Post Falls ID, which is only a few miles away. Its the Liberal Laws and “free shit” that attract dirt bag waste of air losers. The people of WA keep on electing idiots like Inslee, who has the intelligence of a pile of dog poop.

“Something’s got to give.”

Yeah, Bernie as the nominee and a 1984 style Trump win would take care of it. Once that happens, spend the next 2 years wiping out the left and every policy they ever enacted. If we hold congress in 2022, wash, rinse and repeat.

I could see these plans embraced by everyone. I fully understand the conservative desire to not be part of a liberal state. But from the liberal view, they should be happy to get rid of deplorable types from their states, and be free to create their liberal Utopia with no.interference.

I said it for the past 15 years here. Texans were bragging about their economy that’s why leftards moved there. If they only boasted about Klan meetings and shootings to scare off the leftards from moving there , Texas would still be solid red.

It is a rotten shame that my beloved hometown of Spokane has become that sh*thole you have described. Even so, a change of government might be the thing that cleans it out. Say, some people who are Normal, Deplorable, and conservative. We just need a bunch of us to run for city and county government.

As for forming a state out of eastern WA, eastern OR, and northern Idaho (and parts of Montana), it’s been discussed for years. Back in the 70’s, the Spokesman-Review (Spokane’s so-so newspaper) was even in favor of it. Ran a whole section on it one Sunday. Called it ‘Cascadia’. And yes, Spokane was its ‘capital’.

As it is, people in the vastly rural areas of eastern WA would love to split off from the rest of the state. When you look at it, just 3 counties (King, Snohomish, and Whatcom) run the entire state due to the uber-liberal population density. And we hate it.

Amen to that. They must be wiped out.

I think we’ll keep the Senate but it is critical that we take back the House.

If we had a decent, honest media, the Left would be out of business in no time.

I like it! California could become just a narrow strip of land from SF to LA.

West California.
North California.
East California.
South California.

By abrogating federal law, California has already seceded.
