Blagojevich thanks president for setting him free: 'I'm a Trump-ocrat'

Former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, freed from prison Tuesday, heaped "profound and everlasting gratitude" on President Donald Trump for commuting his sentence.

"President Trump is the one who did this, and I'm ... profoundly grateful," Blagojevich, who was a Democrat, told reporters Tuesday night at Denver International Airport.

"He's got obviously a big fan in me," said Blagojevich, who has gone totally gray since entering prison. "And if you’re asking me what my party affiliation is, I’m a Trump-ocrat."

"He didn't have to do this. He’s a Republican president; I was a Democratic governor," Blagojevich said. "My fellow Democrats have not been very kind to him. ... In fact, they’ve been very unkind to him."

Will any of them help Trump in the black community? I’d be pleasantly shocked if Jim Brown does.

“I’ll trust, but these are concerning.”

Isn’t that special. We have a concern here.

When are they ever not hemorrhaging with rage?

Their constant, self-inflicted anger must be such a heavy burden for them. Normally I would feel sorry for such obviously mentally ill people, but in this case, I hope the weight of their anger crushes the marrow from their bones.

Saw this posted yesterday...

These kinds of decisions or more involved than just black and white. There’s any number of reasons why Trump would do this.
1. It will force the demoRATS to condemn the commutation of one of their own.

2. It is a gesture of goodwill that will take the wind out of the democRATS sails about Trump being so partisan and without compassion.

3. It will soften the political crowd up for the pardoning Flynn and Stone, who I think he will fee.

4. It is a backhanded slap at Mueller and Comey (via his buddy Gregory Craig) who put Blagojevich in prison.

5. Blago may have evidence that Obama was involved in the corruption because he was negotiating to get Valarie Jarrett into his old US Senate seat at the time Blago got caught.

He ended up doing 8 years and did not know his commutation was coming. Basically he lost his RAT fight, so was made an example for those who think they can buck the party boss.

I agree with you. The number of years was excessive. I often think the people who do not seem to be likeable get heavier sentences for crimes that are not threatening to the general public, and other offenders get lighter sentences.

Your question does need a response. Yes, these people were guilty - but what Trump did was to recognize the excessive number of years that they were given for offenses which did not threaten the lives of an other Americans.

I have been wondering why Trump pardoned Blagojevich. Was it just personal? Or was there some political calculus? I’m still not sure. He may be appealing to blue collar Dems with something like this.

I do not believe that he [Blagojevich] has caused the death of near as many people as Hillary Clinton has. Yet, she still roams wide and free and is the goddess of the Democrat Party.

Wow, prison has really aged him.

He was mostly gray before he went in but completely stopped dying it when inside.

No one here loves wiki....BUT

Go to Rod Blagojevich corruption charges. Scroll down to Obama involvement.

Seems he wanted Valerie Jarrett to take his Senate seat.

Sure sounds like the FBI was doing a number on Rod...and the usual are involved.

Exactly. And that was the injustice of this.

I absolutely hate that there are two tracks of justice in this country. Blago became a political prisoner, while Comey, Learner, Brennan, Clapper, the Clintons, and many others never have any fear of paying for the very real multiple crimes they have committed.

Blago was burned as lesson to others that one does not question the wishes of the one. Also, Valerie Jarrett is a mean vicious spiteful reptile. I wonder if she’s moved into the new house at Martha’s Vinyard yet.
