Global Surgical Mask Shortage Spells Doom For U.S. Amid Coronavirus Pandemic —
GP ^ | February 18,2020 | Alicia Powe

“We make 7 percent of the [global] mask supply,” Bowen explained on Steve Bannon’s “War Room: Pandemic” podcast. “China has steadily been taking away our mask business. In a few years, it will all be owned by China – they sell the mask for less than I can buy the material.

“America’s hospitals want to save money. The way America’s hospitals buy products – it’s all rigged. GPO, group purchasing organization, bid these things out. They’re looking for the low price, that’s China. That’s why all this happening.”

The United States is also entirely reliant on Chinese manufacturing for nearly all pharmaceutical drugs, generic prescriptions and over-the-counter product supplements and medicines – including penicillin and vitamin C. If US-China tensions worsen, China could cut off antibiotic exports, throwing our hospitals into turmoil.

Bannon, a former top adviser to President Donald Trump, warns these foreign dependencies are at the heart of what it means to be made in America.

“In order to have a secure nation, it’ more than just tanks and soldiers and missiles, there is health security. We are now paying the true cost of the China price, with this just-in-time inventory,” he said. “This globalization. It wasn’t just about taking jobs, which is bad enough, it wasn’t just about stripping our factories out of here. It’s left us exposed as a nation.

“We are now supplicants to our enemies. That is unacceptable and I know that is one of the reasons why Donald Trump is president of the United States.”

People who have died, and people who have recovered are no longer considered active cases.

If you add up the deaths and the number of people recovered and subtract them from the declared cases, you wind up with the still active cases.

“What good would the surgical masks do if it can be contracted through the eyes?”

When will these idiots understand that the only way to combat a virus, especially one of this nature, is with a self contain breathing apparratus, or SCBA, like is used in many hazmet suits. Sealed oxygen.

Everyone has gone nuts over the n95 paper mask. If a person with the virus coughs or sneezes directly on to the mask, it will do nothing to stop it. The N95 is designed to stop particles, not something as small as a virus. It’s just a matter of either keeping the illness out of the country as much as they can, or hiding from people if it is in your area. You get fluid contact, you can get it.

They prevent spray from YOUR sneezes and coughs from reaching others. So it’s more of a sign of respect to other people around you than to keep you from catching it.

??? This is a supply chain discussion about what our country needs to have production of here defend itself during war, pandemic or crisis.

Globalization does not work for a country's infrastructure, intel, health and war needs...unless you are ready to fall to another country controlling you. Gee, think it was planned?

This virus is a great lesson that will have a reevaluation of what is needed in the US.

The flu is pretty heavy everywhere right now.

And I was sitting at work and there was a chorus of coughing going around me. I told my boss I was about ready to go home and get my hazmat suit on.

I certainly suspected my co-workers, but not of the Coronavirus. Probably the flu. We’ve had several school districts close near us.

That’s why they recommend you avoid eye contact.

(Thank you very much!)

Isn't there anyone at the Pentagon with the wit to realize being dependent on our enemies might NOT be a good idea? Thank God our people were smart enough before World War II NOT to become dependent on Germany and Japan.

Maybe doctors wear them when doing surgery?

I am having a difficult time figuring if you are leaving out a sarcasm tag or if you are really not “getting” this.
