Schwarzenegger thanks Trump for addressing California homelessness: 'It has become a crisis'
Fox News ^ | 2/18/2020 | Joshua Nelson

After former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger applauded President Trump for addressing California’s housing and homeless crisis, the former movie star appeared on Fox News on Sunday to explain how the state became plagued by sky-high prices for housing.

“When it comes down to it, California was going through a period where we had kind of had a no-growth movement,” Schwarzenegger told “The Next Revolution” with Steve Hilton.

“Therefore there was no supply anymore so the demand became bigger and bigger and the prices of homes now went up,” Schwarzenegger said, referencing California's “no-growth movement” causing a “disruption” in the supply and demand of housing.

Schwarzenegger said that apartments in Santa Monica or Brentwood, Calif. range from $2,000-3,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and $5,000 for a two-bedroom one.

“No one could afford it except people that made a lot of money so it priced people out of their homes,” Schwarzenegger said.

'The Story' investigates California's homeless crisisVideo Schwarzenegger also said the environmental movement prevented new construction and it has “backfired,” driving California’s “no-growth movement.”

Schwarzenegger thanked Trump last week for his efforts to combat the homelessness crisis in California.

Everyone knows @realDonaldTrump & I have our disagreements. But I want to thank you for sending @SecretaryCarson to our homelessness summit. We’ll only solve this if everyone works together. This issue is bigger than all of us. Now it’s time for action https://t.co/gJVNs3h10f— Arnold (@Schwarzenegger) February 14, 2020

Thank you Arnold, very nice. https://t.co/didAAHILFk— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 14, 2020

Unless muscle head and his leftist pals don’t agree that the starting point regarding fixing the homeless crisis is ‘no more free shit,’ it is a waste of time.

Many leftists and RINO’s are starting to realize they’re not going to be able to take down Trump like they thought, and want to join the winning side ahead of Trump’s counter offensive, which is coming.

A LOOOONG time ago, or at least it seems, I realized the person I wanted to win the primary was not going to win and I got behind Trump. With doubts. And I’m a fellow NYer.

Maybe that’s why I had doubts lol

but he has done a stunning job.

You’re right. People back a winner.

I remember, dp. Your first choice was Cruz if I remember. But you got behind Trump pretty quickly. My first choice was also Cruz until about a week or two after Trump came down the escalator. It took me a couple of weeks to decide if Trump was the real deal or not. I still liked Cruz until he started revealing his dark side. He’s an ally now, so I’m not going to bash him, but would never vote for him for POTUS, even if he was eligible. Those were fun times here on Free Republic. We all had some lively debates.

someday the folks on the west coast will realize they have to come into the 21st century, you cannot have little two story homes with backyards there forever, like it or not it will have to look like Singapore or Hong Kong some day, it may be years and years away but they must start supplying housing. Maybe not on the coast itself but somewhere near the urban areas they will be forced to start building high rises. San Francisco is doing it downtown, and very poorly as I last recall but they are trying at tremendous added cost of course.

I can’t say I remember who even ONE FReeper was backing.

What a memory you got. Geez.

Seriously. Not One. I don’t remember ANY of the most ardent Trump and Cruz supporters.

You should go play blackjack at a casino :) Counting cards may be your thing :)

Already started happening here on the SF peninsula. High-rise housing going up all around. Neighborhood groups here in South SF been fighting the city council over planning that is allowing towers to be built all around our town. State gov't overruled locals and is mandating that developers can build tall and locals can't stop it. We have had multiple high towers built where there used to be only two-story buildings. City rezoned much of the city to allow multi-family high towers where zoning previously only allowed two story single-family residential. Spillover from SF, now forcing growth in SSF in San Mateo County to the south. Our formerly sleepy suburb is getting crowded and having traffic jams. Construction is everywhere. Part of the price for being in tech-savvy Silicon Valley.

Except that he is BUYING the ERRONEOUS story that the problem is high hime prices. The problem is drugs and metal illness!

ONLY Democrats think these people living in tents just can’t afford a home. They are street people...

Lol!! Nah, I’m not that good at things like counting cards. But for certain things, I have a good memory. But I definitely remember you struggling for a while, with whether or not to switch to Trump. When even had a few back and forths, where I tried to talk you off your cliff, lol. If I remember correctly, I think when Cruz blamed Trump’s supporters for the violence taking place at his rallies, that did it for you, as it did for a number of other Freepers. Most who were still on the fence came over to Trump after Cruz’s disastrous convention speech when he refused to endorse Trump.

You’re right. I have no illusions that Arnold understands or really even cares about the homeless crisis in California. It’s all just politics for people like Schwarzenegger - being on the winning side and all that. Good policy has little to do with anything for most of them.

The Leftist states/cities sure aren't bashful about asking
Trump's help to run their cities properly, but don't want
to protect their citizens by following immigration law.

I just can’t remember them.

At least you can lol

Want to fix the California housing crisis in a year?

1) Create factories, where good jobs can be had, in rural California, like the northeast area.

2) Begin harvesting timber and sawing enough to build the huge numbers of homes.

3) Build these new cities in their own economic zones, where these towns grow up around the industries.

4) Yep, there will still be homeless people, but all of the homelessness will be by choice, not necessity. In which case, I'm fine with dealing with vagrancy in a much harsher manner.

Only a massive influx of supply can alleviate this problem.

5) Add 5% state tax on hollywood celebrities and call it “your fair share” tax.
