Include D3 if you aren’t already. Our immune systems don’t get enough sunlight in Winter.

Either call Batman or nuke it from space (it’s the only way to be sure).

That’s sort of defeatist. If a horse has left the barn, you at least go out and try to find it.

Oriental Asians have a deficiency in Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase. That enzyme helps deal with alcohol. THAT is why the "Indians" found in North America could NOT handle alcohol, "fire water," that is, they are ORIENTAL ASIANS, not native Americans. They weren't even the first people to the Americas.

My mother was 8% East Asian, 92% European--German and English. I inherited the deficiency in acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, of all things, and discovered it when I had a regular drink at 29 years old. My face turned purple.
My sister drove me to the emergency hospital and my system was flooded with Benadryl. Problem solved.

I had my DNA done back then...and then I discovered the 8% East Asian.

Another thing I inherited from my East Asian DNA was that I didn't have ANY hair on my forearms. Since both my mother and sister were the same I thought it was normal. ORIENTAL Asians don't have much body hair.
Indians, CAUCASIAN Asians, have as much body hair as Oriental Asians DO NOT.

I’m not exactly sure where this CEO is getting “lower mortality than flu”.

To get a mortality rate, one has to look at how many victims were infected far enough back in time that most cases have resolved. Maybe a study to that effect has come out(?), but I’ve not seen such.* All the studies I’ve seen indicate considerably over 2% deaths of those in the study, and yet more patients recovered, but the bulk of the patients were still in the hospital, with some in the ICU. Granted that these were hospitalized cases, not merely “confirmed cases”, but, so many patients still in the hospital, some serious and some critical, would indicate the likelihood of more fatalities, not to mention the likelihood of an increasingly overwhelmed health care system unable to provide proper care, yielding even more future fatalities.

Some are using the number of total fatalities divided by the quantity (fatalities plus recovered cases). This leaves out all other confirmed cases, even going back, say, two weeks or more, and is surely too pessimistic (assuming the Chinese numbers are representative of the situation.**)

*To my knowledge, no follow up studies tracking at least 3/4 of cases to resolution, and ALL cases studied to some sort of evaluation, have come out? The only reasons I can think of for this are all bad, with censorship being the least bad.

**I was hopeful the overall Chinese numbers were at least somewhat useful, but, even WHO and the CDC are seriously questioning them. 3 fatalities yesterday? It looks like that is now “adjusted” (somewhat) with today’s numbers, but that is still so weird it is hard to explain it as even a bad lie. Yet anything else I have read (ok, I have had limited web time today) or can think of is either really bad, or comes off as double tinfoil with extra glitter on it. Maybe it is some of all the above.

In any event, Mr. CEO is going on mortality information that is HIGHLY questionable, at this point, I must reluctantly conclude.

Where the information widely available does agree with this CEO is regarding the infectiousness of COVID-19. It appears that once well established, only extraordinary, unsustainable measures slow its spread to a manageable rate in temperate “flu season” conditions. If that is true, then it doesn’t take much of a mortality figure to be a big problem.

I would not bet my live on any regular flu shots either as some time they work while other times they do not. All I do know that there is enough evidence that sufficient amounts of C not just small amounts, as well as NAC in your system imparts a considerable amount of resistance to the human body. And yes I am aware that in order to arrive at some undisputable proof of the effectiveness it would require a double blind study which in this case probably never was done. But giving the human body the best chance possible to resist whatever it may be is certainly worth a try. And yes I also been indulging in a daily cocktail of nutrients as well as vitamins for several decades, probably enough to make a medical doctor cringe and so far the only thing which has gotten to me is old age. In any case thank you for the reply and stay healthy and well.

2 that we know of.
I question any data coming out of China, particularly Hubei Provence...

Did you know there is one country that has reagents for Vit C?
That country is China...

We don’t make any of our own Vit. C or aspirin.

2 minor(?) points:

That ~60k is the number of "confirmed" cases in Hubei province. The number of infected persons is surely far higher, although a good chunk of those may be mild or asymptomatic cases (which cuts both ways.)

Also, IMO, I think the Chinese effort "could" hold the fatality rate in Hubei province to under 10% of confirmed cases IF the spread can be slowed enough. But that assumes the containment efforts of the last couple weeks can be sustained until, oh, mid-Spring. That seems nearly impossible, especially as the numbers infected in other provinces grow.

Well, we can be certain for any number of reasons that the Chinese numbers are bullshit.

There are undoubtedly many cases that are not reported because they are too mild.

There are undoubtedly many cases that don’t get reported because the victim died before they could get tested and therefore died from “something else”.

I would say that these cases are not counted proportionately, meaning that the numbers derived from the reported cases are correct in terms of ratios like recovery rates and mortality rates, even if the magnitude of the outbreak is disguised, but for one concern: the Chinese are almost certainly “harvesting” milder cases for the purpose of boosting their statistics. Everywhere except in Hubei Province where the medical infrastructure has collapsed and none of the data is believable any more.

So there you have it.

Based on reports from outside of China, you have a 100% chance of survival in any country except Taiwan, France, Philippines or Japan. In those four countries you have a 95%, 92%, 67% and 98% chance of survival (so far, based on cases, not recoveries). But even so, Japan looks to be on the verge of catastrophe and many of the other countries are unreliable.

And we still have no idea what’s going on in Africa or Central America, both regions having numerous Chinese and not even one case of the sniffles. Right.

Good. I’m a great fan of K2 - started taking it when the doc told me I had mild osteoporosis.

“You better double-check your sources. Several of the recent dead in Singapore, Taiwan, and Japan are 30-40 years old.”

There’s always exceptions to the broad rules...what do you know of the specifics of those several? Were they compromised in other ways? Did they have/recently get over another illness that could have lowered their tolerance thresholds? When did they first seek help and how far advanced were they at that time?

Latest numbers show about a 2.2% (or so) fatality rate and most of them in China where care isn’t as good/possible as it is in other places.
