Federal prosecutors have declined to charge former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, closing an investigation into whether he lied to federal officials about his involvement in a news media disclosure, McCabes legal team said Friday.
The decision resolves a criminal investigation that spanned more than a year and began with a referral from the Justice Departments inspector general, which said McCabe repeatedly lied about having authorized a subordinate to share information with a newspaper reporter for a 2016 article about an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
McCabes lawyers said in a statement they were told in a phone call and letter that the case is closed and no charges will be brought against him based on the facts.
McCabe, a frequent target of attacks from President Donald Trump, has denied that he intentionally misled anyone. He has said his 2018 firing for what the Justice Department called lack of candor was politically motivated. He sued the Justice Department in August, saying officials had used the inspector generals conclusions as a pretext to rid the FBI of leaders Trump perceived as biased against him.
In a letter on Friday, prosecutors told McCabes lawyers that they decided not to pursue criminal charges against your client after careful consideration.
Based on the totality of the circumstances and all of the information known to the government at this time, we consider the matter closed, said the letter, signed by the chief of the U.S. attorneys offices public corruption unit.
The decision was revealed at the week of startling tensions between Trump and the Justice Department over the treatment of one of the Republican presidents longtime allies and confidants, Roger Stone.

Whey are they going to start frying them?
So Gen. Mike Flyn is sentenced to prison time for aledgely lying to the FBI, and Paul Manafort spends almost a year in solitary confinement while being investigated. Roger Stone is supposed to get 7 to 9 for lying to the FBI, yet Andrew McCabe is not even going to trial for lying to his own FBI. We have a two tier justice system and this just cannot be if our republic is to endure.
Stone - Guilty
Flynn - Guilty
Papadopoulos - Guilty
Gates - Guilty

I think I see a trend here, and I don’t like it.
who didn’t see this coming?
Let Barr know what you think about this:

No and no.

When you are singing, you dont want it known. False bravado.
Blow hard Barr.
I really don’t want to fire up the Democrat base before November.
The problem is, if the populace were to rise up and say enough of the criminality, they would be the ones facing the law immediately.
Never mind those in power who have been breaking the law for decades, forcing action.
The USSR under Gorbachev had more integrity than the USA has now. Sad.
Trump has no Wing Man in the Justice Dept.
The sad fact is that even had McCabe been indicted the DC (deep state) jurors and system would never convict him.
And the Left knows this. They know they can go after Flynn and Stone and any one of us on the Right and harass us for years without any consequence. If they do get caught withholding evidence or leaking to the press or lying under oath, they know the DC culture will not convict them.
The only way out of this is to eradicate the Deep State ( highly unlikely) or find a way to move these cases against the traitorous conspirators out of the DC judicial system.
Would I have liked to see McCable spend his Clinton money on defenders? Sure; absolutely. But whether Barr declines to indict or the DC jury failsl to convict; the result is the same. McCabe wouldn’t even be using his own money. He would get pro bono lawyers and an endless stream of Clinton/Soros money. He would make out like the bandit he is.
As long as we are being judged by our “peers” only the law abiding will be convicted.
Vigilantes using scopes at 400 meters tend to get away.
In the immediate aftermath of the "Access Hollywood" media story, an emergency meeting of the senior Trump campaign staff was called at Trump Tower in New York City. There was a lot of talk among them about Trump dropping out of the race at that point. Steve Bannon ended up being Trump's strongest advocate in the room.
Chris Christie didn't show up for that meeting, and even refused to answer phone calls during those hours and days when Trump's presidential aspirations hung in the balance.
That was the moment when Christie burned his bridges with Trump, and that was totally in character with an egotistical jerk like him.
Yes, but two sides can play that game.
Opening up that can of worms sets up a terrible dilemma also.
How are they going to find the vigilantes? Vigilantes operate in in the dark in very small groups.
Would I have liked to see McCable spend his Clinton money on defenders? Sure; absolutely.
I still think Flynn, Stone and all others wronged by the fake Russia investigation should go after McCabe and the others who tried to take down Trump personally. Sue them for millions in a civil case,
