Barr: Trump's tweets make it 'impossible for me to do my job'

Attorney General William Barr told ABC News in an interview aired Thursday that President Trump had never asked him to do anything in a criminal case but advised the president to stop tweeting about the Justice Department, saying it makes it “impossible for me to do my job.”

The remarks are a significant and rare public break by the attorney general from the president, following days of controversy surrounding the Justice Department’s decision to lessen a sentence for Trump ally Roger Stone after the president tweeted about his displeasure with the gravity of the original sentence recommendation.

“I think it’s time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases,” Barr told ABC in the interview.

The president also has the power to command his AG.

Come on - that's overly simplistic. To command to do what?

Sorry. I thought it was obvious.

The president has the power to command his AG to perform all aspects of the AG's job.

It would not surprise me if the Dems are planning some sort of theatrical mass resignation from Main Justice during campaign season. Maybe Barr isn’t playing to Trump with these comments but playing to The Resistance (TM) at DOJ HQ?

I saw the exert of what Barr said..in a way he is right..what he said is that President Trump NEVER told him to do anything regarding these court cases, but to just lay off tweeting so much..I can understand that..but President Trump was upset about this, heck so was I..the second I saw that they were recommending 9 years in jail for Stone I was like are you serious thats RIDICULOUS! If Trump had called Barr up and asked him to do something about this than it would have looked bad, instead he tweeted his frustration, for everyone to see..and that is what Trump does, he doesn’t hide it, he doesnt like something, bam it goes up on twitter

They left off the part where he called out the Democrat’s tweets, the media, the constant calling for him to resign.

Attorney General William Barr told ABC News in an interview

You weren't hire to do interviews. If you had a beef you should have discussed that in private not in front of the cameras.

...you don’t have to subscribe to n-dimensional chess to notice that President Trump defeated Peach Mint with most of the FBI, DOJ, House, and a plurality of the Senate, *all* wanting him out of office.

And as one who didn’t have an extensive support network already established in DC, either.

Such a feat, however, makes the claims of n-dimension chess more believable, compared to the last 30 years of RINOs folding or collapsing on the fainting couch at the mere suggestion someone *might* call them “ray-ciss.”

I would be very surprised if Barr hadn’t first told POTUS that he intended to make a public statement. That would have been the courteous and respectful thing to do.

......and, I hope POTUS takes what Barr says seriously. Barr is a good AG and I don’t want to lose him.

Right now PDJT should be very focused on policy, and using his current huge momentum to get re-elected in November.

Trump was giving his opinion on a proposed sentence most sane people agree is outrageous. This is his right as an American citizen.

I fail to see how this prevents the Attorney General from "doing his job."

Having said that I agree that it might have been better for POTUS to have waited a bit longer before making his pronouncement. But not THAT much longer.

After all, isn't Michael Flynn still waiting for justice?

The president has the power to command his AG to perform all aspects of the AG's job.

Okay. Well, he can't order the AG to arrest someone if there is no violation of law, as an example.

But I don't think President Trump would do that anyways.

People should KNOW what the Deep State is like (and yes, I believe that there is a bureaucracy that will do whatever it has to do in order to protect power it has accrued over the years).

I just wish it was not over this buffoon Stone. But he is entitled to due process like everyone and should not be selectively prosecuted. He is not a very sympathetic figure.
