Pundits are beginning to agree that Joe Biden's campaign is in a death spiral.
"Biden’s campaign is running on fumes," writes The Daily Beast's Sam Stein. "A candidate with all the trappings of a traditional frontrunner—the long résumé, party backing, relevant experience, and steady poll numbers—suddenly is on electoral life support."
So what happened? Should Biden's campaign crash and burn there will be much speculation over what went wrong. How did the frontrunner go from smooth sailing to the nomination to an epic disaster?
Well, I think the answer is already clear.
When you look at the Real Clear Politics tracking in the early states of Iowa and New Hampshire, you will notice a pattern: Biden starts losing support, or some other candidate starts to rise, around mid-September 2019.
Mid-September happens to be the same time the whistleblower complaint that launched Trump's impeachment became public.
Looking at the graphs of Iowa and New Hampshire you see quite clearly how Biden's candidacy was riding high, the unequivocal frontrunner, for months. Months! Then suddenly the race became competitive between Biden, Sanders, Warren, and eventually Buttigieg.
Biden has never regained that runaway frontrunner status since the Democrats started their bogus impeachment of Trump. And it's quite easy to understand why.
Prior to the whistleblower complaint, Biden's Ukraine conflict of interest was not on the public radar, but thanks to those revelations, videos of Biden admitting to a quid pro quo, and his son Hunter's position at Burisma Holdings were being discussed and debated openly by media. For sure, the liberal media attempted to downplay the significance of Biden's Ukraine problem, but Biden, who was seen as the sane and safe candidate, wasn't so safe anymore. Even Biden's cheerleaders on The View couldn't deny it.

You make good points, but, honestly I cannot see them moderating.
They can nominate the hardest-core leftist among them (Sanders, Warren, or Butt) and will lose. But, given the trends lately, the rallying cry in 2024 will be “We weren’t far enough left in 2020.” There’s nobody as immune to learning from experience as a Democrat. After all, for them, history begins yesterday.
1. Biden was never in it. The early national polls that showed him in the lead were rigged to make the impeachment narrative stronger.
2. The dems knew all along that impeachment would fail in the senate. The intent was to make the senate republicans look corrupt, hoping to put the senate in play for the dems.
3. If the senate flips to dem they can stop Trump's judges.

Let me see if I have this story clear:
Biden says he will withhold aid to block an investigation of his son. Press and Democrats think that is not important and ignore. Trump says he will withhold aid unless the investigation of Biden's son is reopened. Press and Democrats lose mind and claim it's an impeachable offense.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that this is also going to blow up in their face and Biden will be the ultimate casualty?
I am SO happy to see that President Trump is coming out hard against socialism and speaking in plain language about the horrors of that system. On YouTube yesterday, a Trump ad played speaking to that topic. He started this almost a year ago.
He will have five years to educate the American electorate. Obama was a key influencer for socialism over his eight years; Trump can be a strong countervailing force against that.

True but to be fair, Biden never really had a chance given his declining mental capacity.
Biden has serious cognitive issues and he will be in some sort of long-term care situation long before he could be successfully prosecuted for any of his crimes.
In time, Biden’s family will appreciate how lucky he was to fail in the primaries; but, of course, Biden will still be claiming he won the election by cleverly not running.

One key sign was what didn’t happen: 0bama didn’t endorse Joe. Whatever kept that from happening, and there were probably several things - too old, too corrupt, too bland, no programs, no passion, and obviously declining mentally - whatever that was, was the watershed.
An interesting theory but it doesn’t explain the pelosi staged temper tantrum...
