The parents of a 14-year-old Pakistani Christian girl, who was abducted, forcibly converted to Islam and married off to her abductor, will approach the Supreme Court after a lower court ruled that marriage with an underage girl is valid as per the Sharia law if she has had her first menstrual cycle. Huma was 14 when she was abducted in October last year and forced to marry her abductor Abdul Jabbar after being converted to Islam, according to her parents Younis and Nagheena Masih.
Their counsel Tabassum Yousuf on Friday said they would seek justice from the Supreme Court after the Sindh High Court, as per the Sharia law, said earlier this week that even if the girl, Huma, was found to be underage, the marriage between her and her alleged abductor, Jabbar, would be valid as she has already had her first menstrual cycle.
After they approached the Sindh High Court to see their daughter, the court, in a hearing on February 3, ordered the police to oversee the tests to confirm her age. However, Judges Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Irshad Ali observed that under the Sharia law, the marriage would be valid even if Huma was underage. Tabbasum said that the ruling was not in accordance with the Sindh Child Marriage Restraint Act passed in 2014 which outlawed marriages of girls under 18 years, in a bid to stop forced marriages of minors in the province, primarily of Hindu and Christian community.

It is a recent thing for the age of consent to be 18 and older.
It is unnatural for women to wait to their 20’s and 30’s to have children.

The Bible doesn’t condone it. The Genesis 6:4 incident, was one of the most ghastly things that happened in the Old Testament, but didn’t mean God condoned it. In fact, God brought the Flood down on their heads over it. ☔️🌨🌧
Its current veneer of justification is Islam but this is typical Middle Eastern tribal behavior going back to Old Testament times. The powerful men do whatever they want and are only answerable to the other powerful men of their tribe. Kidnap, ransom, extortion, rape, murder are endemic.
By the way, poor Muslims are just as powerless to prevent the kidnapping and forced marriage of their daughters. They just don’t have go through the phony conversion to Islam business since they are already to Sharia law.
Apologists will say that Islam gives certain rights to women. What they omit is that the Muslim woman’s status is 1/4th that of men and she must have the assistance of men to assert her rights. Muslim men are subject to the threats of intimidation by the rich and even the tribal councils fear the powerful. So the poor, Muslim or not, can do little protect themselves without outside legal assistance.
Pakistan is especially bad because the judicial system is hopelessly compromised due to the blending of Western secular and Sharia legal concepts.

In the middle ages, this wasn’t all that uncommon. Menstruation was considered the coming of age for women. A lot of marriage happened in the teens even through the 1800s.
Today the average age in the US for women to have their first child is 28. That’s actually a LOT older than it used to be. In 1970 the average age was 21. In some countries in Europe it’s crossing age 30.
There are various pros and cons to this. But for most of human history, women were having children much younger than they are today.
