The boy fell out of a shopping cart in December, fractured his skull and suffered bleeding around his brain. About a month later, he and his family were detained by ICE during what they thought was a routine check-in.
Family came to the USA illegally. Kid fell out of a shopping cart and hit his head a month ago. Now it is the American taxpayer's fault for previous care and responsibility for future care. Deport them no and problem solved

Won’t fly. The illegals get good medical help in the US.

"The boy fell out of a shopping cart in December"
How did this happen?
Was he in the cart basket?
Was he climbing in and out?
Was he buckled in to the seat?
Where was mama?
$hitty things happen to Ameerican kids, too and there are a lot of slimy lawyers out there, but every shopping cart in the USA has these kind of warnings posted on them.
And, I've noticed in Spanish, too.

Send Child Protective Services to investigate her for suspected negligence.Give her a choice— self deport, or we open a file & snatch her kid.
See how she likes them apples.

He fell out of the cart a month before they were even detained? So what were they doing that whole month after the kid got his head injury? Spending their welfare check, and using their EBT card? This case should be tossed out. The government isn’t responsible for something that happened a month before they were even in contact with the family.

I see parents letting their kids ride in shopping carts all the time, but five years old seems too old for that sort of thing. Unless an ICE agent knocked over the cart, I don’t see why they have any legitimate reason to sue.
To: artichokegrower
I’m sorry that child was injured by his mother, but I blame her for being a criminal and being negligent with her own child. The uncertainty of treatment in ICE custody is why that criminal and her child should have been deported to their real home as soon as they were arrested. I’m sure that Guatemala would have provided the appropriate care for one of their citizens.

Throw them out of this country, by any means available, as soon as possible. Money-grubbing trash.
