These cruise ships offer an interesting unintended laboratory to observe the spread or containment of the Chinese coronavirus in a civilized setting with medical care on hand and focused. Poor luck to be caught on that ship.
How about just convert it to a floating hospital and get it over with? Personnel would aboard with full hazmat suits and equipment.
I heard a cruise ship executive moaning and groaning about how bad the cruise business is. Said it was down 80%. I bet it will be worse than that before its over.
When i was a child I lived in Yokohama. It was an interesting place. I remember the honey bucket man that would come around and gather the honey (excrement) from the holding tank. He literally had two buckets that sat on each end of a pole that he carried on his shoulder. He would go from house to house gathering his product. In addition, the public urinals along both sides of the street that serviced both men & women, fascinated me as a 5 year old. 8>)
Unintended - ? Possibly.
Perhaps in near future some of these ships will become floating hospitals.

Anytime anyone goes abroad they recognize there are risks they assume of unexpected origins that could happen and often do. Expectations of how, when and where another country is going to intervene to keep you safe and sound are very high even for seasoned travelers, and Americans generally are not known to be a patient people.

Anyway, been on lots of cruises—fourth time on this boat. Never been ill. Best vacation dollar for dollar
Hubby lived there as a Navy brat in the late 50s and he’s got some crazy stories about his time in Yokohama.
During the stock market crash, people started jumping from windows. I predict people will start jumping from the upper decks.
