DHS bans New Yorkers from Global Entry and other programs over state law allowing undocumented immigrants to get driver's licenses

The acting secretary of Homeland Security announced on Wednesday that New York state residents can no longer participate in certain Trusted Traveler Programs, including Global Entry, due to provisions in the state's new "Green Light Law" supporting undocumented immigrants.

The law, which went into effect in December, allows undocumented immigrants to apply for New York driver's licenses while protecting applicants' information from immigration enforcement agencies. "Today, we sent a letter to New York indicating, because they took these measures, that New York residents are no longer eligible to enroll in these Trusted Traveler Programs," acting Secretary Chad Wolf told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday.

New York state residents cannot "enroll or re-enroll" in the programs "because we no longer have access to make sure that they meet those program requirements, so we need to do our job," Wolf added. The letter states that the Green Light Law will impede Immigration and Customs Enforcement's "objective of protecting the people of New York from menacing threats to national security and public safety," according to a copy obtained by Fox News and confirmed to CNN by a source familiar with the letter.

Since the law "prevents DHS from accessing New York DMV records in order to determine whether a (Trusted Traveler Program) applicant or re-applicant meets program eligibility requirements, New York residents will no longer be eligible to enroll or re-enroll in CBP's Trusted Travel Programs," the letter adds.

LMFAO! Just breaking...... Oh, the New York Liberal Donor class is NOT going to happy about this when they find out about it!

Imagine rich liberal Democrat Donors having to stand in the same long line as the smelly, unwashed, and possibly infected Prols!

This is gonna be great!

I’ll bet Cuomo’s personal, private phone line starts lighting up like a Christmas Tree by Friday Afternoon.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it, NY!
My apologies to all normal, hard-working, decent New Yorkers out there.

Perhaps NY drivers licenses should not be honored as legal in other states for the same reason.

Puts a smile on my face, but let’s face it - some Obama judge will issue an injunction blocking the DHS action by the end of the week.

Payback’s a Bitch so New York, welcome to the Dog House.

I wonder if DHS can use their older Global Entry program databases to check the legal immigration status of New Yorkers? Probably wouldn’t do any good since illegals would not use that program, but older databases are invaluable for finding older information on people, events, etc.

I’ve done that in my legal work and you’d be amazed at what is archived if you do it right (and I do and have for almost 30 years. Records are the gold mines of legal research in many types of law/cases).

As a New Yorker, I say “thank you. Since NY is no longer safe, protect the rest of the Country from it.”

Would be funny if Messicans on vacation with Messican licenses can rent a car in the US but NYers can’t.

Wow. Manhattan has to be at least per-capita the biggest user (and abuser) of Trusted Traveler. This is Trump’s foot on Doomberg’s scrawny neck.

My TEA pre-check status expires this month, after 5 years. I don't travel anymore, so I don't need it. But if Global Entry has a similar lifespan, those New Yorkers should have their access pulled now, not in 2024. Otherwise this is like double secret probation.

I am a New Yorker and support this move. Trump should get a judge to allow access to the DMV database for national security.
