‘I think it’s Israel’: How Orthodox Jews became Republicans
Arutz Sheva ^ | 5/2/20 | Ben Sales & Laura Adkins

Like most of his Orthodox friends, Richard Goldberg was raised a Democrat.

But by 2000, Goldberg had affixed a Republican congressional campaign bumper sticker to the maroon Lincoln Town Car he drove to his Orthodox Jewish high school in Chicago. Spurred by concerns about President Bill Clinton’s Israeli-Arab peace process, disgust with the Monica Lewinsky scandal and a desire to emulate his older brother, Goldberg had decided to become a Republican.

Though he was not yet old enough to vote, Goldberg knew he was unusual. He remembers walking into Chicago’s largest Judaica store, Rosenblum’s, to see stacks of yarmulkes adorned with the Democratic presidential campaign logo — including the name of Joe Lieberman, the Orthodox Jewish senator who had been selected as Al Gore’s running mate.

“The owner of the bookstore was pushing me to get a Gore-Lieberman yarmulke,” Goldberg told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. “I said, ‘These are very nice. Do you have them in Bush-Cheney?’ He didn’t even know how to respond.”

Twenty years later, Rosenblum’s says it isn’t selling any campaign yarmulkes due to a policy of not offering political merchandise of any kind. But elsewhere, kippahs emblazoned with logos supporting President Donald Trump, a Republican, are readily available. The Orthodox world has caught up with Goldberg, who worked for years as a GOP political operative.

“I’ve never seen anything like it as far as support in the Orthodox community,” Goldberg said about Trump. Regarding the president’s policies toward Israel, Goldberg said, “If your worldview is such that these things are unbelievable accomplishments and things that you’ve waited your whole life to see happen, this president is a dream come true.”

Multiple surveys reflect Goldberg’s experience. The vast majority of American Jews vote for Democrats, but a slim majority of Orthodox Jews voted for Trump...

It amazes me that every Jew I know hates Trump

Not me! Not most of us here on FR. In fact it's quite the opposite.

It was an Egyptian fertility rite, celebrated in Egypt. There were no “temple priestesses” in the Beit Hamikdash.

The more I think about how so many Jews are Liberal demonicRATS, the more I understand why God let them wander in the wilderness and called them a stiff-necked people.

Whoa! Don't yell at me. Yell at God and Moses. They're the ones who said it. It's right there in Exodus.

He did pressure Arik Sharon to forcibly evacuate Ghaza and four yishuvim in the Samarian hills. Both of which were pure folly and lead to more missiles and attacks, not less. Some “peace”. He also constructed a “Road Map for Peace,” which shifted the onus to the PA to actually do something, but which they ignored and Obama turned on its head.

There was a Tank McNamara (sports cartoon) where 2 shrinks were trying to see if they could ‘cure’ Marge Schott (former owner of the Cincinnati Reds) of her anti-Semitism.

So they showed her a picture and said “This man is Jewish, how can you tell?”. She says “I can’t”. Then one shrink looks at the other shrink and says “Progress”.

My point being that for people who never dress or otherwise behave in an orthodox manner, they simply cannot have a clue as to whether anti-semitism even exists, they have to get all of their information from their ‘news’ sources, and if their trusted sources (including their friends) are saying Trump is anti-semitic, then Trump must be just that.

That’s what I think is happening here.

I recall everyone being upset with Sharon over the Gaza withdrawal, but not GWB or U.S. foreign policy pressure. I thought that Sharon himself and like-minded Israelis were ready to offload responsibility for the Pals in these areas.

A few fishermen two millennia ago alleged to have seen Jesus walk on water, “

A few fishermen?

You haven’t looked very deeply into Christianity if that’s your attitude.

Nicodemus and Paul were two of the top Jewish scholars in Jesus’s day. They both learned about Jesus and became followers.
There is much more to learn if one has an open mind.

I was educating the poster who marveled at the jews and the calf. I referenced a parallel.

What has become known as "Easter" had its beginnings in the context I've already described. Pagans used their "festivals" as excuses for fornication. That's why many of the jews at the calf were so excited. They were emulating their lives in Egypt.

I never understood why most Jewish people vote Democrat. Especially now when there are certified anti Semites in their ranks. Maybe enough will see the light.”

Yeh, I don’t get it either, especially when so many conservative Christians here in the US support Israel and Jewish population. I’m Southern Baptist and my church makes at least two trips to Israel per year.

Here’s the explanation for the whole mess: Torah. Is it true? Is there a G-d? Infinite, so he can create and sustain the Universe, and personal: so that we can be in a relationship with him. And, if he exists, has he spoken to us in terms that we can understand? If so, then we are obligated to acknowledge him and walk in his paths. This is not complicated. Leftist Jews are Jews who have abandoned the Torah. They retain the cultural affectations of Judaism while denying the power of its source. There are many [understandable] reasons for this, given the history of persecution and holocaust that have characterized the Exile. In other words, “Man, this Torah has gotten us in hot water for so long it’s high time we gave it a rest!” As Larry King said, “look, I don’t believe in G-d, but I’m totally into being Jewish.” That’s the reason why there are leftist Jews. Once you detach from the Torah you begin to drift, and eventually you find yourself in direct opposition to the word of G-d. This is what also happened to Christianity at large. So now, we have a remnant in both camps whose basic values are drawn from Scripture. They recognize that without the Torah there would be no Western Civilization. Their numbers are growing, and if there is any hope to save America it will be found there.

Great explanation of the leftward drift of both Christians and Jews.

What in God’s name is wrong with these people

They rejected their Messiah.

Light came into the world to save HIS own, and HIS own rejected, and then had HIM crucified. All because they preferred the darkness.

Real difficult to maker wise decisions when you reject the truth offered by the Great I AM.

Don't be too shocked, in 1932, a good portion of the Jews voted for Hitler.
