NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent Kasie Hunt lost her Delta elite status, and it’s Donald Trump’s fault.

Regular readers know (and sometimes complain) that I blame President Trump for many things. However if you’re dating problems with SkyMiles, the program really started going down hill in the waning months of Bill Clinton’s second term.
And someone should teach Ms. Hunt the trick of just dialing Delta Singapore reservations (+65-6336-3371) to avoid long hold times, 24 hours a day call center in English.
And they wonder why we call them ‘Fake News’.................

So it’s Trump’s fault that she’s fallen out of favor with her employer and doesn’t get to travel much anymore? That’s a good one. Also, nobody checks your Delta silver or gold status when you hit the special check-in (at least I’ve never seen it). I was gold back when I had a job that required a lot of travel. I still have the card if anybody asks (they never do), they don’t really know until you hit the check-in counter and start putting in your information. I’ve never had an agent at the desk tell me, “Sorry, can’t help you, you need to go stand in line over there.” It’s not like Vegas where you’re treated with utter contempt if you’re not a millionaire that blows his money there regularly. If the other desks are jammed up and the line for gold status has 2 people in it, they’re not going to turn you away. I’ve always been prepared to play dumb (”I was gold the last time I flew, don’t know what happened.”) and have never needed to.
Once you have it (Platinum status here). Its very difficult to give it up. First class upgrades, dedicated phone lines, free drinks......
No doubt. If you travel there, keep that phone number.

Basically, you get upgraded to first class most of the time. It is nice because you get to sit in a comfy seat and get a drink in a real glass while they are boarding the plane. While enjoying your drink, you get to sneer at the peasants as they shamble to the back of the plane. You also get the forward lavatory that the doesn’t have pee all over the toilet seat and the floor.
D’oh! I should’ve known that.
It truly is insanity, not just a “syndrome.”

What’s funny is that she’s complaining about losing her gold status. I had that and it’s nearly nothing. You get to use the two counters on the end with short lines instead of fighting with everybody else. Now that I fly a lot less, I use it anyway and they don’t care.

I’ve been Diamond for years. One of my perks is, I can grant GOLD status to my wife. It’s a pretty small benefit, but... the wife likes it. SOMETIMES, she gets upgraded as a result.
If I’m on the same flight, we pretty much always get upgraded.
