Russia's First Tank Army has received 20 T-72B3 tanks that have been modernized and tested, Russia's Western Military District said Monday.

The T-72 is a family of Soviet main battle tanks that first entered production in 1971.[7] About 20,000 T-72 tanks were built,[8] The T-72A version introduced in 1979 is considered a second-generation main battle tank. It was widely exported and saw service in 40 countries and in numerous conflicts. The T-72B3 version introduced in 2010 is considered a third-generation main battle tank.
“” “” Russia’s First Tank Army””” “
What is it? Russia didn’t have a ‘tank army’ since 1945.
Horse Hockey....
Like wars are going to be fought in this manner, the logistics alone are mind boggling and there is absolutely NO reason for a war, nor desire on either side
Complete garbage
Tanks are obsolete when the military has nothing to complement them in a integrated system like the USA. They are still essential though. Look at Syria and that urban battlefield. "Old" technology like the A-10 shreds tanks in the more open battlefield. The Pentagon needs to war game for ALL enemies. America still has multiple enemies that need to be handled and on multiple fronts.
Terrible misleading Headline!
The last large armored movement was Iraq. Then everyone dropped underground and started planting ied’s.
Large armored movements with lots of people and hardware are expensive. Russia’s economy is about the size of Texas, and a shooting war would drink up rubles like Nancy on a Saturday night.
Russia and Iran are just China’s proxies.
They have no money to do anything militarily but what China pays them for.
Anyone know the names of all these exercises? Newsweek does not give their names. If they did, they could be looked up as when they were announced and scheduled. That would likely undermine Newsweek’s narrative.
In 2016 both Hillary and Jeb! were advocating for a no fly zone in Syria which if enforced would have resulted in shooting down Russian aircraft.
So many of our elites can’t seem to wait to get into a confrontation with Russia.
It just isn’t worth it to get into a war with Russia unless they start it first.
They way things are going Russia may not even exist in 50 years so why risk WW3 over nothing.
“Large armored movements with lots of people and hardware are expensive. Russias economy is about the size of Texas, and a shooting war would drink up rubles like Nancy on a Saturday night.”
In other words Russia can’t wage large scale war without US lend lease...
Russia has no desire to tangle with the west. They havent the population to sacrifice, nor the will to do it. Oh they’ll keep stirring the pot alright.
China on the other hand...
Yes, alarmist BS to try and undermine DJT,
It is a unit designation.
That is what I am talking about. There is no such unit in existence.
Sorry but it's hard to keep a straight face and imagine these guys delivering relevant news.
Ivan couldn’t win a bar fight and he knows it.
Why T72s?
The armor on those is crap. A Carl Gustav would have a chance of penetrating even in the heavier front armor.
The reactive armor of the B3 mod wont help for long in a sustained fight.
And 20 whole tanks? That’s what, a company’s worth?
Iirc, tank platoons in a motorized infantry outfit were 5 tanks and those in an armor outfit were 4 tanks per platoon. And then the company command tank.
Nonsense! No way Putin would tell Trump to go to war with Russia.
Point is they have thousands of t72s in storage;
For 1 NEW Armata ; 4 - T72 s can be upgraded to T72 New ; these tanks cut up Ukrainian Armor ; they are good enough to mass deploy;
Getmany does not even have functioning air force but they do have windmill’s

My thinking is that a decently equipped, trained and disciplined infantry with arty support can take them apart.
The T72 isn’t enough advanced on the M60 to really matter.
And the M60, up against western military formations is just a rolling coffin.
