A Phoenix-area resident, who is alleged to have been the leader of a group of Al-Qaeda terrorists in Al-Fallujah, Iraq, appeared today before a federal magistrate judge in Phoenix, Arizona in connection with proceedings to extradite him to the Republic of Iraq. He is wanted to stand trial in Iraq for two charges of premeditated murder committed in 2006 in Al-Fallujah.
The arrest was announced by Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Departments Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney Michael Bailey for the District of Arizona.
An Iraqi judge issued a warrant for the arrest of Ali Yousif Ahmed Al-Nouri, 42, on murder charges. The Government of Iraq subsequently requested Ahmeds extradition from the United States. In accordance with its treaty obligations to Iraq, the United States filed a complaint in Phoenix seeking a warrant for Ahmeds arrest based on the extradition request. U.S. Magistrate Judge John Z. Boyle issued the warrant on January 29, 2020, and Ahmed was arrested the following day.
According to the information provided by the Government of Iraq in support of its extradition request, Ahmed served as the leader of a group of Al-Qaeda terrorists in Al-Fallujah, Iraq, which planned operations targeting Iraqi police. Ahmed and other members of the Al-Qaeda group allegedly shot and killed a first lieutenant in the Fallujah Police Directorate and a police officer in the Fallujah Police Directorate, on or about June 1, 2006, and October 3, 2006, respectively.
The details contained in the complaint are allegations and have not yet been proven in court. If Ahmeds extradition is certified by the court, the decision of whether to surrender him to Iraq will be made by the U.S. Secretary of State.
Ahmeds arrest was executed by the FBI Phoenix Field Office, HSI Phoenix Field Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. The extradition case will be handled by the U.S. Attorneys Office for the District of Arizona and the Criminal Divisions Office of International Affairs.
Obama’s open borders...
What could go wrong?
Trump isn’t enforcing anything new today. All he is doing is enforcing the laws that Reagan signed while he was in office.
If Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama had enforced them, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
I blame each one of these guys. If course Obama made a point of sticking his thumb in our eye on these matter. He does get a special dose of scorn.
Globalists! High branch, short rope...
or a pool of water swarming with piranha . . .
So let me get this straight. Arizona issued a warrant for a person requested to be extradited by Iraq because of a bilateral agreement to help in investigations.
Ukraine is supposedly investigating crimes by Joe Biden There is a bilateral agreement to aide in investigations put in place by Clinton.
The other day I joked that Ukraine might issue a warrant for Slow Joe so if elected he couldn’t travel to Ukraine. Could (even in a pathetic hypothetical sense) happen?
Could a Ukrainian warrant be enforced here?
democrats are outraged at his apprehension and demand his release.
Just another undocumented immigrant - nothing to see here.
small pool, lots of piranha
guess I’m the hanging judge...
...and you’re the chum judge
How are these people gaining access into the country???
aware, that he is about to be indicted in the Ukraine and possibly an international court??
Yes I am aware of the Ukraine allegations. That is what prompted my response. I just didn’t realize that it was actually possible (however remote) that it was even doable.
Dreamer
LOL
If there is an valid extradition treaty with Ukraine then mr. Biden can be sent to them for trial if he is not president of the United States. At this time he is out of office and a plain citizen. If Ukrainian police have a good case and can convince a US federal judge then he can be sent there.
I read somewhere in a European article that there are other investigations (more than just Ukraine) regarding money-laundering in process. It seems some one on this side of the ocean would have publicized it.
Guess which border he used to get in......
Gosh, Mr. Wison, why not put a slapflare where they used to end up, and send the remains by UPS?
Why didn’t Mr. Ahmed move to a “Sanctuary City”?
Court records unsealed Monday reveal details of the two attacks
