Trump said during an event at an auto parts manufacturer in the city of Warren that his administration would grant an extension to Iraqi Chaldean Catholic immigrants, a group that has been targeted for immigration enforcement during his presidency.
Were going to make sure that we do everything we can to keep people who have been good to this country out of harms way, Trump said. When I get back, were going to give those who need it an extension to stay in our country.
Trump hopes to be reelected in November and Michigan, which he won narrowly in 2016, could be a competitive battleground during the campaign.
Trump launched a broad immigration crackdown after taking office that included arrests of Iraqi Chaldean Catholics with outstanding deportation orders in the Detroit area, some of whom had lived in the United States for decades.

Are there that many that it could push him over the top i that state?
In some of the ethnic / religious communities, word of support from Trump gets around like wildfire.
I’d rather see him keeping the Christians & deporting the Muslims.
And the Mexicans.
I’m assuming that’s not a good thing for the Trump supporter.

“Trump launched a broad immigration crackdown after taking office that included arrests of Iraqi Chaldean Catholics”
Somehow I don’t think “Trump” actually launched the crackdown...more like one of his many Deep State underlings ‘did him the favor’. Trump may have known about it, but he was likely fed bad information if that were the case. Anyway, sounds like the word has filtered through to him just who these people are.
Looks like some animals are more equal than others.
A complete lie of course.
Some were just deportable criminals.
Show me where Iraqi Chaldeans were targeted.

It took me a few minutes to figure out what that stood for.
At first I thought they were curse words :)
That’s what he’s suggesting.
“Are there that many that it could push him over the top i that state?”
No matter, he’s doing the right thing to people persecuted for their religious beliefs.
[Advocates have argued the Iraqi Christians deported to Iraq could be targeted in that country as a religious minority. They also contend some face deportation because of old or relatively minor criminal convictions.
In a case that received widespread media attention last year, a 41-year-old Iraqi national who had lived in the United States for most of his life died after being deported to Iraq.]
“Show me where Iraqi Chaldeans were targeted.”
You may be right, but I certainly wouldn’t put it past the Deep State to protect the Muslims from there and persecute the Christians. Not at all.
If this group have been acclimating, working, producing instead of being a parasite, then they are not equal to those who arrive here and become a culture of welfare.
PRODUCERS VS PARASITES.
Very different, indeed.
I’m so jaded I fear that they’re muslims who are putting on an act!
I know they’re not.
How terrible to have come to have such a view of the world
The State Department Counsulars are usually arrogant Godless Fu*|<S. These FDOs and CIA operators under cover don’t even need a directive given my right years interactions with them their Compass is anti God.
Iran was right about our Dens of Spys.
O.K.
But he and DHS have to keep in mind such an extension should not override any other legitimate U.S. concerns, such as criminality or U.S. security issues, just because someone is an Iraqi Christian. The Iraqi Christians slate should be clean as far as we know, or they could fall into a category that otherwise deserves deportation.
I knew an elderly Iraqi Chaldean Christian refugee, now deceased. His english was broken but he came regularly to our church and was devout. He was very proud of his Chaldean background because the Chaldean Christians are one of the absolute oldest Christian communities. They’re aren’t that many of them left.
As we saw in the Ukrainian fiasco, there are “The Resistance” members within the Trump admin bureacracy who resist,slow-walk, or do the exact opposite of what Potus, VP, and Sec Pompeo want to do. The latter truly want to help persecuted Christians around the world. Hope they can crack down on those obstructing their way.
