I agree, other than Rand Paul’s questions so far he has only moderated protocol and not inserted himself much. I hope he keeps it this way.

Ho has no power to call anybody. His business is to read the questions that Senators hand to him, call the votes for witnesses etc. He can’t ask his own questions. He can’t vote. He is not a member of the US Senate.

I think it was actually Misko who wrote the script...

The Constitution says the Vice President votes in case of Senate tie votes. If the VP is not able to be present to do that, nobody else can perform that Constitutionally prescribed function in his place.

They can't get him involved he is not the head of the Senate (or legislative branch), it just wishful thinking. Robert's Rules of Order are not "Justice Robert's" Rules of Order lol.

Parliamentary procedure takes precedence. a 50/50 vote does not allow a motion to move forward. The end.

In other words the Dems are STILL trying to tell the Senate how to run the proceedings by getting Roberts to step in.

“They sure do want Roberts involved in decision making. Which makes me immediately suspicious.”

Me too! Dems are usually better than GOP at planning & implementing dastardly deeds so wonder if they know outcome if Roberts decides.

Roberts has little say in the matter

Hypothetically if Roberts were on his own to issue a statement that he'd considered the situation and determined that witnesses were necessary and he'd allow them. Would the republican Senators actually defy him just because he's grossly overstepping his authority? Or would they just say "oh heck, the press is going to kill us. We ought to just go along. I hope he allows us to call some too."

“The Constitution says the Vice President votes in case of Senate tie votes.”

I think that is only for legislative votes. But I could be wrong.

It will depend on how solid the hold the marxists have on Roberts is. Adoption fraud? Child molesting? Bribe taking?

:: testimony from former national security adviser John Bolton ::

If the NSC says the book cannot be published without redactions, then Bolton cannot testify to it in the Senate.

Maybe they could sunpoena the NSC staffer that ILLEGALLY leaked (or lied about) the manuscript? Maybe they SHOULD call Yvgeny Vindman and question him about the leak and his relationships with Misko, Carpenter, and Ciamarella?

Hmmmm, maybe we SHOULD get witnesses?

And the Electoral College can override the Vote.....

These idiots never learn.

The House Dems shoulda taken the issue of ‘Executive Privilege’ to the Entire Supreme Court. Roberts may be the Chief Justice, but he is just one member with one vote.
They should thank the Lazy House Dems that did not get their ducks in a row.

Well thus far he has avoided becoming involved. ...he has twice refused Ron Paul questions......

Apparently 3 time’s the charm. I heard him read it last night with the name of the whistleblower removed. It was a pretty shaky reading, but he did it.....

....
Yeah when I heard the senator asking the question with 7 or eight other names attached, I knew this was going to be one heck of a question. ...Roberts had no choice but to read it. He was snookered. .....then schiff of course does a little tantrum and refuses to answer. ...also, the President’s lawyers didn’t really answer either.

I’m waiting for the announcement of a class-action suit against the US House of Representatives for mal-administration.

Payout would be equal to the debt incurred during the impeachment trail.

"The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided" (U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 3)

Nope, the Constitution doesn't specify only legislative votes.

I don’t get that some senators will vote for more witnesses / documents and when that motion fails, they will then vote to convict.

Inconceivable.
