A grey-haired man wearing a face mask lies dead on the pavement at ground zero of China's virus epidemic, a plastic shopping bag in one hand...there are only a few passersby and they dare not go near him...A woman standing near the man...said she believed he had died from the virus. "It's terrible," she said. "These days many people have died."...In the two hours that AFP observed the scene, at least 15 ambulances passed by, attending other calls. Finally, a white van with blacked-out windows arrived to take away the man. The body was zipped into a yellow surgical bag, and carried into the van on a stretcher. Staff immediately began to clean the ground as the van drove away, disinfecting the streets where the body had lain.

That’s a good point. It’s much easier to catch a cold or flu from a stranger in an open air market than in our local Walmart, fast food place or convenience store.
A-a-a-a-a-a-a-choo! Oh, sorry. Pardon me. ;)
Chink?
And Son?
So, you are suggesting that most people have recovered despite the stats saying otherwise?
Here are latest stats, 9,776 confirmed, 213 dead, and only 187 recovered. Again, only 187 recovered and more than that dead. And that is only what is being officially reported.
And consider that the Trump administration has in just two days, organized a team to monitor, put out a travel advisory, then next day a do-not-travel warning. That is quick escalation. I suspect we’ll see halt of flights FROM China by the end of the weekend or sooner, whether it hurts relations with China or not.
I’m surprised that air travel isn’t more rare by now. Australia is directing incoming flights from risky areas to the Christmas Island detention center for quarantine. Brutal.
New York City has a higher pop density than Wuhan does.
So do a lot of East Coast cities.

My worry is if this thing hits India.
Why, because most US companies would lose their customer service call centers? :P
Drama sells baby!.
I was in such a market a year ago in Kowloon- across the water from Hong Kong. I had to go outside as the combination of the smell and other things (like the machine they put chickens in right after they wring their necks that pulls out all their feathers) was making me sick. I feel nauseous just remembering it. ugh.
I really hate to say this. But bodies in the street in China are a site that most people have seen. China is not nearly as quick to scoop up people who die or even have heart attacks or other catastrophic health issues. People who are hit by cars, or are victims of crime can lay dead or injured for quite a while with nobody stopping to help out. So this picture is business as usual in China. And likely has nothing to do with the Corona-virus.
Soylent Yellow anyone ? Awesome new cracker out of Shanghai.
Asian people leave shoes at door and have been wearing masks for years. The virus is right now spreading through the world like wildfire. This is the point in time when we are all most vulnerable. Just before donning the masks, gloves and goggles and self quarantining. IMHO.
I’m a little doubtful that this guy died of the virus. Anyone who’s had any kind of flu (including me - a wreck and indoors for a week) is probably not walking around on the street. But on the off-chance that he was infected but not symptomatic yet, the clean-up crew was wise to be kitted out in their bunny suits or whatever they call them. The guy might have had a heart attack or stroke, or he might have tripped and struck his head.
And there was no bullet put in his head. We have arrested those responsible for spreading that false rumor.
And it’s weird that they report a recovered figure at all. Ebola recovery took a month or two if ever, so they never bothered to list it. And should that not say cured ? Maybe it will be another clerical error. Those were actually recovered into cremation comrade. So sorry. Lol.
