It denigrates the historical facts surrounding Hitler. It’s almost a denial of the true nature of Hitler, to make this comparison.
To be honest, I didn’t like the claim, either. At least, the way that I heard it presented.
Instead of saying that if the President thinks that his re-election is in the national interest, it can’t be abuse, I think it should have been phrased as, if the President thinks something is in the national interest, then it doesn’t matter if it also benefits his political campaign.
OTH,I would never second-guess Dershowitz on legal or public relations matters. He seems to be pretty good at what he does.
