Is the era of Big Judicial Activism over?
It might just be. Supreme Court Justic Neil Gorsuch, in a ruling about denying green cards to migrants who come here to be "public charges," something that's plainly laid out in U.S. law as illegal, threw in a special warning to activist judges, all leftists, who have been beavering away to rule from the bench, warning them that he's tired of their shenanigans. It's a specter to behold - a big lion on the Supreme Court who not only cares about rule of law, but is now warning the leftists out there that he's coming for them.
Here's PJMedia's report:
In addition to the 5-4 decision allowing the rule to go into effect, Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch issued a concurring opinion rebuking activist judges and their rush to apply "nationwide injunctions" against Trump administration policies.
"Today the Court (rightly) grants a stay, allowing the government to pursue (for now) its policy everywhere save Illinois. But, in light of all thats come before, it would be delusional to think that one stay today suffices to remedy the problem. The real problem here is the increasingly common practice of trial courts ordering relief that transcends the cases before them. Whether framed as injunctions of 'nationwide,' 'universal,' or 'cosmic' scope, these orders share the same basic flawthey direct how the defendant must act toward persons who are not parties to the case," Gorsuch wrote. These details from the Wall Street Journal are important, too:
His concurrence, joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, is a much-needed rebuke to what he calls the increasingly common practice of trial courts ordering relief that transcends the cases before them. Whether framed as injunctions of nationwide, universal, or cosmic scope, these orders share the same basic flaw

Re Fishing Lodge:
Yeah, that whole affair still stinks like hell.
They got away with murder. Again.
RE: it would be sweet, sweet revenge for Podestas murder of Scalia
You have good evidence for this?
that would be the discussion of “wetworks” directly referring to the time and place of Scalia’s passing, as exposed in Podesta’s emails
Good that the Supremes see the problem, but Congress is the one who should be deciding judicial scope.
The Democrats want to end all Christian religion especially any association with education.
Absolutely laughable.
man there were some things about him that had me thinking here’s a lib-—boy was I wrong!
GREAT DAY!!
Does anyone have the case name that is being discussed? Sometimes it’s hard to find stuff at the SC site, without the name. I really wish news articles would at least mention that critical information that is relevant to the story.
He should of glared at the 4 Supreme Court Justices who disagreed.
Thanks! Now, if we could only train reporters to actually do their jobs and report the relevant facts... I know not gonna happen...
The President could easily shut down judicial activism by ignoring any such judicial orders that are beyond the scope of the cases presented to their courts.
Tell them to send it to the USSC if they want it applied nationwide.
Hmmm.. Seems I recently read something about storm clouds, thunder and wind but no rain...
Bingo!!
“....but Congress is the one who should be deciding judicial scope.”’

Good luck getting them to step up and do that.
Roberts and Kavanaugh dicey.
This really should be a simple thing. A judge can only do anything within his area of responsibility. If he really feels the injunction should be more, he has a direct line to a superior court, who can make an immediate emergency ruling on a wider injunction. And if they feel it should be wider/nationwide, they can make an immediate emergency appeal to district/Supremes for that.
And if any judges start abusing this, then the higher courts will probably just start auto-declining all of their attempts.
That’s my estimation.
