If the Alabama GOP electorate nominates him in 2020 then the GOP has earned the title of Stupid Party.
There was a time when I respected Roy. But his wingnut views (the Bible is the supreme law of the United States taking precedence over statutes and even the US Constitution) and his very dicey personal life have done for that. Roy needs to sit down and be quiet while the adults are talking.
Sometimes I like to see morons like this run for office just so they get their asses kicked.
When you think “Fake News”, the Washington Examiner is not exactly one of the first publications that comes to mind.
Roy, time to fade into retirement.
All you naysayers concerning Moore, what high crime or misdemeanor did he commit?
Roy Moore = Richard Jewell = George Zimmerman.
Shame on all of you who keep piling on Roy Moore.
Who would be a worse nominee—Roy Moore or Jeff Sessions? I’m hoping Tommy Tuberville wins.
Washington Examiner is no better than fox news these days. There are plenty of Democrats working there now. I had a run in with one just yesterday on twitter.
Scandel ridden? The scandals were fake, the creation of Democrats and the Republican circular firing squad. Jones’ huge funding advantage and Trump’s too-little/too-late rescue attempt didn’t help.
Roy Moore, just go away.
His wife today is considerably younger than he is. He has had a long and successful marriage. He wasn't just messing around. He met with parents. They gave permission.
Others who dislike him like to mention he was removed from Alabama's Supreme Court twice. Let's look at that.
What are your views regarding the Ten Commandments in the halls of the Alabama Supreme Court (and other court office) building?
In a time when the ACLU and non believers in God profess to be strong separation of church and state, they have no problem at all with Islam being taught in our schools. You see, this isn't about separation. It's about reducing the influence of the Christian God on our children.
I supported Roy Moore on the issue of the Ten Commandments, not because I wanted to see this as a "conversion" tool, but because of the Christian's right to free speech. We have a right to have our views on pubic display. Roy Moore understood that.
His other removal from that court was related to same sex marriages. He refused to abdicate his responsibility on that matter. He chose to be removed from office rather than compromise. Folks, I agree with him.
He did the right thing in both those cases.
This guy advocated for our views on both these cases. He tried to stop the slide into oblivion, that is overtaking our nation. At a time when we can see what capitulation has gained us, Roy looks very prescient with regard to his stances on these issues.
Those who think Moore was just a kook, really need to do some re-evaluation. They need to look inside themselves and ask if they share his views or not. If not, then for heaven sake recognize yourself for what you are. Don't go blaming Roy Moore for standing up in the face of adversity, and being willing to lose his status and position, to back what he believed (and I believed) to be the right thing.
Roy Moore wasn't being considered for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. His legal opinions weren't a consideration. His stance on morals, right and wrong, and our Founding Documents were what was on the line.
Like Trump, Moore's values aligned with ours. How sad it is to see folks trash him now, as if he lost in Alabama due to his own shortcomings. No, he didn't.
Moore lost in Alabama for the same reason Trump is on trial for Impeachment today. NOTHING!
His votes in the U. S. Senate would have been bolstering to our side. Today we would have a 54 44 majority in the U. S. Senate. If you add in the Independants, it would still be 52 46.
What that means is that we wouldn't have this situation where we cringe every time a big vote comes up. We would have that one more vote to prevent the Romney, Collins, et al cadre of turncoats to deal with.
Moore would have silenced that noise.
This was Mitch McConnell's resounding endorsement of Moore.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Sunday that Moore will be sworn in as a senator if he wins on Dec. 12, saying he would "let the people of Alabama decide." In November, McConnell stood by Moore's accusers, saying "I believe the women," and calling on the candidate to "step aside" from the race. LINK
Who do we know who could have come within 1.65% or 21,924 votes out of 1,325,868 votes cast, the way Moore did despite being attacked by the demoncRats, the republiCons, the press, and forgetful well meaning misguided people, the way Moore did?
On the issues I care about, Roy Moore stood tall in the face of adversity. He would be an excellent addition to the U. S. Senate.
Moore’s opponent in the primary runoff, Luther Strange, attorney general of Alabama, had been appointed by the governor to fill Sessions’ vacant seat. The way that happened stinks of quid pro quo:
Conventional head-in-the-sand wisdom was that Strange would have beaten Jones easily, but that ignores the fact that Strange’s corruption would certainly have been a big issue for Jones in the campaign. And we will never know what other dirt they would have dredged up (or may already have had in reserve in case he beat Moore in the runoff).

Would Strange have beat Jones? That is by no means certain.
Trump made a huge mistake initially supporting Strange, who didn’t deserve to be in office, possibly to curry favor with McConnell. Trump made another huge mistake not immediately endorsing Moore once he had the nomination.
Yes, Moore ran a crappy campaign. No question there. He might have pulled it off if the GOPe had supported him instead of Jones.

The Washington Examiner is conservative? NO, it is Swamp. Swamp news always trumps Conservative news. The Examiner might be slightly less liberal than the WaPo, or NYT, but it is far from Conservative.
