‘It's going to be harmful’: Republicans weaponize Trump team attacks on Biden
Politico ^ | Jan 28, 2020 | Marianne LeVine

Posted on 01/28/2020 4:46:39 AM PST by where's_the_Outrage?

...The second day of the impeachment trial took a sharp turn, when Trump attorneys Pam Bondi and Eric Herschmann spent a significant portion of their time on the Senate floor arguing that Biden should be investigated for corruption.

Bondi primarily focused on Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his role on the board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma while his father was vice president and in charge of Ukraine matters. Trump's team has presented no evidence that Biden used his role as vice president to benefit his son nor alleged anything improper other than the "appearance of a conflict."...

This c*nt doesn't even know grammar.

"...in support of U.S. foreign policy any backed by the international community."

And WTF does the support of the international community have to do with legitimizing a foreign policy execution by the President (as Biden said in his video, "Call Obama")?

Especially considering we KNOW Biden was doing this to protect his not-particularly-qualified son; and it's fair to suspect he was getting a kickback on it.

WOW - way to miss ENTIRELY the points being made yesterday!

It is exactly that "appearance of a conflict" which made it appropriate to investigate the matter. If the investigation comes up empty - FINE. But if there is smoke, there likely is a fire somewhere and a prudent person would at least check it out before assuming the opposite.

But then again, this is Politico, I guess I should have known better.

“anything improper other than the “appearance of a conflict.”.

So there only an appearance of a quid pro quo.

Trump’s team has presented no evidence that Biden used his role as vice president to benefit his son nor alleged anything improper other than the “appearance of a conflict.”...

That is exacly why the matter should be looked into. Or is it merely a coincidence that Biden and his family got paid millions in every country in which he was made “point man”

Trump's team has presented no evidence that Biden used his role as vice president to benefit his son nor alleged anything improper other than the "appearance of a conflict."...

Look at the logic here:

As Pam Bondi laid it all out, everyone in the world thought that the Hunter Biden situation looked like a potential conflict of interest. No one thought it felt right. Was it a real conflict of interest, or merely an apparent conflict of interest? Was there any evidence of a crime?

Well, you'd have to investigate the situation to see if there was evidence of a crime.

But the Democrats say you can't investigate unless you already have the evidence of the crime. So, Hunter is off limits.

Meanwhile, the Democrats have been investigating President Trump for over 3 years desperately seeking evidence -- any evidence - that he may have committed a crime -- any crime. So far, they have nothing. Even in the midst of impeachment, they have no actual crime they can accuse the president of committing.

But, any suggestion that we should investigate Hunter's sweet deal with a Ukrainian company known to be corrupt is somehow "beyond the pale".

And to think how often, as an Army officer and civil servant, I was lectured about the importance of making sure there was *no* appearance of a conflict of interest.

The appearance of a conflict of interest is *exactly* why you investigate.

Trump's team has presented no evidence

Well, the Democratic Reps has presented no evidence either. What is your point?

Umm, Ms. LeVine, thank you! You have dismissed the basis of the House impeachment.

I was an Air Force senior NCO, and we were told the same thing. 👍

...”arguing that Biden should be investigated for corruption.”

Not so much should be, but should have been.

All the Dems have twisted Trump’s request to look into the ongoing corruption as “dig up dirt” or “Manufacture dirt” on Biden.

No manufacturing or digging was necessary. It was a perfectly logical and reasonable request, especially considering the anti corruption treaty, that Zelinsky have a closer look at Burisma.

The Bidens MUST be seen in the totality of their actions.

Not just by one damning video of Joe bragging about his power to get a Ukrainian fired.

The Biden family got filthy rich ...... .leveraging Joe's govt office to gouge taxpayers.

The Biden family's endless govt contracts reek of favoritism.

To me, this pic is the epitome of Joe Biden's corruption. Shows exactly what he thinks of taxpaying Americans.
We exist only to serve him and his greedy family's endless get-rich-quick schemes.

REALITY CHECK: On an official tax-paid govt trip to China, then-VP Biden brought along Hunter and his daughter Finnegan ----
for a family outing paid for by taxpayers. Lookit her---the moronic grand-daughter waves at Chinese dignitaries
like it was old home week.......like she's some sort of diplomat.....ninny thinks she's part of the official delegation.

Hunter cashed in bigtime, even had a Chinese suckup hand-deliver a diamond to his hotel room.....

Politico doesn’t “miss the points being made yesterday”. They get the points and are now busy trying to bury them or spin them away as much as possible. The leftist media is smart, powerful and dishonest.
