Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) released a statement in response to new allegations that involve former National Security Advisor John Bolton's unpublished book about his time at the White House under President Trump.
The New York Times reported Bolton's book states Trump tied the Ukraine military aid to the country's officials helping investigate the former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, because he was on the board of gas company Burisma.
Multiple Senate Democrats have come out to say Bolton must testify in the ongoing impeachment trial in light of the allegation.
Meadows said Democrats are becoming desperate if they're clinging to 'anonymous sources' leaking information at the last minute.
"Were talking about an unpublished manuscript that only anonymous sources have seen, leaked by someone at the 11th hour, just as Democrats are losing what little impeachment momentum they had left. Weve seen this playbook used before. Americans wont buy it," Meadows said in a statement.
"The latest New York Times report may provide fodder for a political narrative, but it doesnt change the facts. And in reality, the facts havent changed since day one of this circus. The call transcript shows zero link between aid and political investigations. The aid was ultimately released with no political investigations from Ukraine. Ukraines leadership had no knowledge of the hold on aid until an August 29 media report," he continued. "President Zelensky and President Trump both say 'no pressure.' And in five U.S.-Ukraine meetings between the hold and release of aid, not one time was any link between aid and political investigations discussed."
Meadows said Trump's impeachment was the result of him fighting to "drain the swamp."
Romney will buy it, as will any other GOPe Senator looking for an excuse, however weak, to damage this Administration.
It is an 11th hour desperation move and be assured that certain folks knew this and have a counterattack to this planned. Meadows is firing the opening salvo.
I agree, Mittens will grasp at any straw due to his hatred of POTUS.
Not if they are smart. This thing was dead before it even began!
LOL...it just happens to be leaked AFTER the House of Reps could have called Bolton in to testify (and be cross examined).
Bolton’s assertion still doesn’t gel with Zelensky’s assertion that he did not know of cooperation being tied to any funds.
Looks like a fake piece of “evidence” cooked up when you know you’re losing.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Bolton intentionally allowed it to leak, and under questioning he says that is not what his book says. :)
wow you just Completely left out the part where At Least 4 or 5 Rs knew it was coming out and waited until then to say they must vote for witnesses.
We should all be on the horn to collins and Murk... and romney etc.
the WILL fold unless pressured
It’s amazing how these bombshells always seem to be found in documents that no one can read.
And that by the time the documents become available, and it becomes cost to everyone that they didn’t say anything like what they were claimed to, there will be another bombshell that no one can read.
It is the Whistleblower letter all over again. And, the Democrat Party Hacks that control the MSM will report it like it’s golden.
“Americans wont buy it,” Meadows said” Unfortunately, RHINO, never Trump Repub senators like Collins, Romney and Murkowski will by it. What a weak group we have as Repub senators.
Not just Democrats, Romney, Grahamnesty and others wearing R jerseys, too.
It is the same strategy used on Kavanaugh.
They will be pressured by the civilians and mainly by others privately who will threaten to put their heads on pikes. Black Tech knows all.
it would be but he very likely didn’t do it for that reason i suspect unfortunately-
He can’t talk about the book because it’s still under review in the NSC- and still hasn’t been cleared-
I don’t think so but I HOPE so.
I’ll bet you a beer. If you win I’ll drink 2 :)
Not Graham, he’s dead set against extending the trial with witnesses.
