"After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!"
I liked one of the episodes of Stargate where Jack O’Neil (Richard Dean Anderson) suggests that they name their very first starship “Enterprise”. Samantha (Amanda Tapping) gently suggests that, no, that won’t happen.
If they're going to go with a Starfleet look then it has to be M.A.C.O.
Did someone mention logic?
Lol!
Been waiting for Space Command ever since I watched that show as a kid. Go Thunderbirds!
FOCUS! Chicks in space! Could give a shit what the men wear!
...... Wasn’t the original USAF “Space Command” Logo designed as a homage to the “Starfleet” logo from the tv show Star Trek? So why wouldn’t the new one do the same?
Don't worry brother, I got you.
Space.com has vid of prototype test.
I bet the Space Command logo predates the StarFleet logo.
What is the link to the vid, or an I supposed to wander around space.com?
https://www.space.com/astroclipper-space-plane-concept-cargo-passenger-flights.html. . .not this as it is computer grahics.
Can’t find it.
Nothing new on that webpage.
Nothing unusual or “leading” edge.
No articles mentioning CG problems you state as fact, nothing.
And any classified stuff would not be released to a private company, and leading edge stuff would be at Groom Lake still under a shroud.
Cheers
Ta’Pal so what she bleeds green I’m down but lets wait for Laz’s official verdict :-)
No, Bendy ol’ screw, I think he meant the Space Marines from the classic “Star Blazers”...
Yeah, that’s what leapt to mind when I saw the logo too. I had been laboring under the misapprehension that a new department and concomitant service was being created, separate from the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Instead what’s being done is akin to when the Army Air Corps was formed.
Why didn’t they just call it the Space Corps? First, they would have spared all-important me a year-and-a-half’s worth of confusion. Second, Obama wouldn’t know how to pronounce the name, and were he to have tried, hilarity would surely have ensued. As a country, we need that kind of shot in the arm.
We did so name a space shuttle. So there’s that.
The Marines came first IIRC.
