The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Would sure like to know the ages of the deceased.

From what I’ve seen in the numbers, i get the impression this is no worse than a flu outbreak.

The Walt Disney Company owns 43% of the resort, with the majority 57% held by Shanghai Shendi Group, a joint venture of three companies owned by the Shanghai municipal government. It opened for business in June 2016.

The government owns 57% of this Disney Park.

Why all the absolute panic?

Perhaps someone knows that this virus has a one-two punch, a period of relatively mild illness, followed by a period of apparent recovery while the virus is being actively shed and spread, and a lethal second overt illness.

As if that someone had engineered it that way...

The numbers have to be wrong. It is the only thing that makes sense. Also, it is in the same family as SARS, which caused a big scare in 2003 I think. New viruses are disturbing as we do not know what to expect and there has never been a cure for a virus. Vaccines for different kinds of viruses, treatments, but never a cure.

Maybe, but probably not. A corona virus can live 3-28 days on an inanimate object.

I suspect it takes about a month from package to market.

Sometimes people don’t die of the flu, but of a relapse. Their immunity is down. You think they are recuperating, then they die. I think this is what Jim Henson died of. A little 4 year old girl, a neighbor, died when she had a relapse of flu. I think the little girl who starred in Poltergeist died during relapse of flu.

I was just reading about it, Henson died of pneumonia after the flu. I think that is what kills people with coronavirus. Pneumonia after flu.
