Mitch's MO is simple: He will not force GOP Senators into votes that could harm them politically if the vote will be lost anyway. That ticks off some conservatives who want Mitch to "get the RINO's on the record" but he doesn't believe in symbolic defeats. That earns him some loyalty from those same RINO's so on close votes where they are waffling, he can bring the pressure to get the vote total over the top.

But when Mitch has the votes, he is utterly ruthless and will push his advantage as hard as he can.

He has been remarkably effective overall.

Not from me. I believe, as a member of the gang of eight, he was fully aware of what the fbi/doj were up to in the 2016 election. Add the fact that since this "Impeachment Inquiry" has been going on, the senate has not had a single hearing in curiosity about the non-stop accusations that Trump is some kind of anti-American nazi.
