Mitch's MO is simple: He will not force GOP Senators into votes that could harm them politically if the vote will be lost anyway. That ticks off some conservatives who want Mitch to "get the RINO's on the record" but he doesn't believe in symbolic defeats. That earns him some loyalty from those same RINO's so on close votes where they are waffling, he can bring the pressure to get the vote total over the top.

But when Mitch has the votes, he is utterly ruthless and will push his advantage as hard as he can.

Trump’s legal defense team doesnt’ get to present its case until Saturday, a weekend day on which few people will be watching the trial or listening to the evening news coverage.

The opening day for ANY defense is a critical. So how exactly does that help the president publicize his case and win the PR battle when the viewership is obviously down?

It doesn’t look like Mitch is the “genius” some people think he is. Rather it appears he is being outmaneuvered by the crafty House Dems who already managed to call their ‘virtual’ witnesses via video during their presentations.
