There is no more sacred room for military officers than 2E924 of the Pentagon, a windowless and secure vault where the Joint Chiefs of Staff meet regularly to wrestle with classified matters. Its more common name is the Tank. The Tank resembles a small corporate boardroom, with a gleaming golden oak table, leather swivel armchairs and other mid-century stylings. Inside its walls, flag officers observe a reverence and decorum for the wrenching decisions that have been made there.
Hanging prominently on one of the walls is The Peacemakers, a painting that depicts an 1865 Civil War strategy session with President Abraham Lincoln and his three service chiefs Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant, Major General William Tecumseh Sherman, and Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter. One hundred fifty-two years after Lincoln hatched plans to preserve the Union, President Trumps advisers staged an intervention inside the Tank to try to preserve the world order....
Trump organized his unorthodox worldview under the simplistic banner of America First, but Mattis, Tillerson, and Cohn feared his proposals were rash, barely considered, and a danger to Americas superpower standing. They also felt that many of Trumps impulsive ideas stemmed from his lack of familiarity with U.S. history and, even, where countries were located. To have a useful discussion with him, the trio agreed, they had to create a basic knowledge, a shared language....
Youre all losers, Trump said. You dont know how to win anymore.

Read the article. Waaaa waaa whining about Mathis, Tillerson and Cohn in the early years. Now 3 years later, Trump was dead on right. These 3 assholes tried to use the flag and sons and fathers serving. Here you have Trump and every milatary decision he had made (against these assholes advise) worked! Sorry if this was a hit piece, it backfired.
You're full of sh*t. I was wondering why Trump used such mild language.
I think it was ment that W used it as a dodge to not go ito actual combat.
Any military group that’s been in charge during the ‘endless Middle East Wars’ should be fired, tried and put in prison.
If I run into Mattis at his favorite donut shop “The Spudnut Shop” in Richland, Wa — his and my hometown — I am personally going to approach and call him “dope and baby” and other epithets I’ll think up in the meantime.

This article is a bunch of Crap-not even fit to line a bird’s cage. POTUS is right—these stupid jerks are wrong.
And if we are going to be the policemen of the world, then the world should at least reimburse us for that.
Financial ruin—has played a role in destroying many an empire. Protecting this country means keeping it strong economically as well as militarily.
Stupidity reigns in DC, and POTUS doesn’t suffer fools.

But not this time.
Very interesting!

“Trump Downplays World War I, Says His World War Will Be ‘Even Better’
PARISIn comments delivered on the centennial anniversary of the end of World War I, President Trump downplayed the Great War, calling it “actually very small” and promising that the world war he starts will be “much bigger and way better.”
The crowd looked on awkwardly as Trump slammed World War I for not being “a very big war” and claimed he could do “10 times better.”
“Many good people are saying I’ll have the best world war of all time,” he said at the Suresnes American Cemetery on Armistice Day. “We have the very best people on it, much better than the losers behind World War I. Pathetic!”
“Sad!” he added before a gun salute was fired off to honor the fallen in the deadly conflict.”

OK, this is obviously satire. But good satire has an element of truth in it.
I voted for Trump in 16 because I support most of his policies and will do so again in 20 but the man is a Jerk. with a capital J.
It was his jerk personality which lost the House to the Dims resulting in his impeachment and will result in his probable defeat in 2020,
The man is his own worse enemy.
That’s because it’s posted on msn.com. Not sure why but MSN provides the full WAPO and NYT articles without having a subscription. So I post using the MSN link.
Exactly! What kind of babyish dopes does the Washington Post take us for?
Dan Rather tell you that tale?
...with a gleaming golden oak table...
Light oak is a dated look and looked lousy in the first place. The right finish for serious business is something dark.
I’d fire their asses just for having bad taste.
No, Ben Barnes stated it publicly, before and after the Rather imbroglio and to my knowledge, he is uncontadicted and not tarred by Rather. I don’t know why Barnes would make it up - puts him in a bad light and he confesses he can’t visit the Vietnam Memorial without feeling shame over using his influence in replacing the sons of the wealthy and influential such as GW Bush with the sons of the middle class. Neither Bush was what they projected, I always viewed the father as Reagan’s biggest mistake and an ungrateful one at that and his son as unintelligent and a disaster for conservatives who also rode on Reagan’s name.
