Tringas said she and her daughter tried reporting the abuse for years, but she said authorities did not believe them.
That's when the teen installed a Nest camera to capture the actions of 47-year-old Damon Becnel.
“Nothing was done. Nothing has ever been done to help my daughter," said Tringas.
“She absolutely knew that something bad was going to happen and nobody would believe her unless she had that on film," added Tringas.
In the videos, you can watch Becnel scream, point and headbutt the girl.
The video also shows Becnel hitting the dog, holding an object to its neck and threatening to cut the animal's throat.
His arrest report states that the object was a knife.
“What he did in one night is going to probably take years to undo," said Tringas.
Becnel was arrested and charged with one count of child abuse and one count of animal abuse.

Who is the man in relationship to the girl? Why is the girl with him. Read the article & this is not clarified.
Who is the perp, and how did this happen? Did he live there? Was he a neighbor?

Mr. Becnel saying he is not going to be disrespected in his house. Sounds like there is more to this story. What relation was her mother to Mr. Becnel, girl friend living there maybe.

DESTIN — The arrest of prominent local businessman Damon Becnel on charges he physically abused his daughter and tortured a family pet in front of her has created community backlash and re-ignited a nasty 15-year-old custody battle.
Becnel, who the Florida Division of Corporations lists as a managing partner of 26 businesses — among them president of Sandestin Police Department Inc. — was charged Jan. 2 with child cruelty and cruelty to animals.
The daughter, a 14-year-old, reported the abuse and provided police with video that appears to depict, graphically, a knife wielding Becnel abusing the girl and the animal.
