Gun permit applications surged nearly 1,000 percent in New Yorks Jewish community since the December 28, 2019, attack on Hasidic Jews in a rabbis home.
The Washington Examiner reports that the surge is clear in Rockland County, the very county in which the rabbis home was attacked. The Rockland County Clerks office reported the nearly 1,000 percent increase in gun permit applications in the week following the Dec. 28 attack.
Erik Melanson, owner of Rockland Countys Precision Gunsmiths, said, A lot of people are worried, especially the large Hasidic and Jewish community in Rockland County. I have had rabbis come in. Some of the rabbis already have concealed carry [permits].
On October 27, 2018, an attacker killed 11 innocents at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There was no armed security at the synagogue at the time of the attack.
On April 27, 2019, an attacker killed one innocent and wounded three others by opening fire on Chabad of Poway in San Diego, California.
On December 10, 2019, two attackers killed a Jersey City police officer, then holed up in a Jewish market, where three civilians were killed.
The New York Times reported the December 28, 2019 attack in which a suspect armed with a machete wounded five Hasidic Jews in a rabbis home. The victims tried to defend themselves by throwing furniture at the attacker.
On January 8, 2020, Breitbart News reported HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky indicating Americans can carry guns to the synagogue on the Sabbath for self-defense.

Unfortunately Crown Heights is where the Rebbe settled, so that is where we went.
The % increase is meaningless. How many new permits were there?
I know someone in upstate NY with a concealed carry permit. Outside of NYC, it can be straightforward. But a non-NYC permit is not good in NYC.
Is that legal? I would think that a state permit is good in the state, just like a national “permit/license/etc.” is good in the whole nation. NYC is not sovereign. It is dictated by the laws of the state in which it exists.
..................
It’s legal if state law specifically says that a non-NYC CCW is no good in NYC. But a NYC CCW is good in all of NY State.
NYC controls the state.
Its legal if state law specifically says that a non-NYC CCW is no good in NYC. Yes, that is the one caveat I was wondering about. Does it say that?
They also don’t represent the vast majority of Jews.
Is it legal?
Roflmao. Its NY.
Yet.
The law permits cities to make their own laws. No preemption.
Syracuse may have its own rules, too. I dont know.
If the permit clearly states which cities are exempt from the state permit, then yeah, it doesn’t apply in those cities. However, I have heard of some states slapping down such city ordinances in the same way they would say that a driver’s license for the state of California is valid in ALL areas of the state and, likewise, the traffic laws.
i.e. I don’t know that it would pass constitutional muster if it were ever challenged in court.
If you have a NYS concealed carry permit in a county outside of the five boroughs you may not carry concealed in NYC unless NYC validates your license (good luck with that).
Most of these attacks are blacks and Muslims. Don’t know how many of the blacks are also Muslims.
Yes, I know.
As stated, that’s why I have a NYC permit for a 7 shot, Smith & Wesson .357.
Again, it’s not hard. It’s just takes about $10K.
For 99% of America, $10K for a permit isn't hard, it's impossible.
I think you might have it backwards. I’ve always understood that hunting an animal for food is forbidden since an animal must be properly slaughtered and an animal killed in a hunt would not be kosher. Hunting animals to control population or for their hides or other parts is permissible.
That is one reason why venison (deer meat), a kosher animal because it chews its cud and has cloven hooves, can be eaten but is not because it is not a domesticated animal that can be properly slaughtered.
Meanwhile, in Texas, the Texans were throwing LEAD at the attacker.
“I think you might have it backwards.”
No, you just misread what I wrote.
I don’t disagree. It’s an absurd system.
It’s just not hard — assuming you have money.
Which is, again, the point of all Democrat regulations — they’re just a scam to skim money and to keep normal people down.
