Evening, Lauren, Kathy.
Thanks for trying, but we’re still warm and dry. It got up to at least 70 this afternoon. My skin feels like sandpaper. Ack!
I’d LOVE to have lots of windows. All of ours are high and they’re small so we don’t get nearly enough natural light. Plus we have big trees in front and back that cover up the sky. They are a blessing in the hot summers, though, by keeping the house in the shade most of the day.

I wish we COULD send this rain to y’all. We don’t need it and there’s more coming this weekend. We need to dry out.
I’m enjoying the mild temps at least. Hit 60 this afternoon while I was out, sat there a while, and now it’s slowing going up.
But much as I hate it, we need a long cold spell to kill off bugs. This spring and summer will be awful otherwise.
Trees close to the other house are a lot of why it was dark inside. That and that horrid wood paneling everywhere. The living room in this house has paneling, too, and it’s one thing I don’t like about the house. The rest of the house has white walls and is so much brighter.
Where you are, you do need trees to help keep the house cooler during summer. They help a lot here, too, but they must have socked it to this house with insulation when it was built because it stays cool during summer without a horrendous electric bill.
It looks like we’ll have some fun overnight. More rain and some thunderstorms keep building up and moving this way. I went to the other house a few minutes ago and got back just before another downpour. Had some lightning close by too.

Hmmm...sounds like maybe you’ll get the chance to shoot some lightning videos maybe. That would make it worthwhile for sure!
Are you thinking of painting the paneling in the living room? I guess it would have been best to do that when the house was empty. It’s not a really dark paneling though, right. It looked kind of maple-y in the pics.
No, we won't paint the paneling. We'll leave it as it is. You're right that it isn't real dark paneling so we can live with it. The other house has dark paneling in every room but the kitchen and bathrooms and it was depressing.
The living room is large and there's no wall between it and the kitchen so it's a nice open, airy space. Da kittehs like it. :-)
The wall Hubby took forever tearing out was where the carpet and wood floor meet. The room was all carpet originally and why Hubby's B-I-L put the wall in and ripped out that section of carpet is beyond us.
I like that open concept. I wish ours was, but this house was built in the early 60s and the rooms are small, closed off and the windows small. We could have probably opened up the kitchen/dining and the living room, but we never had the kind of money it takes to do that kind of remodeling. Plus I hate the house and never wanted to deal with it.
I like the open concept too. The house I grew up in was that way.
Houses built nowadays are built like yours. Small, closed-off rooms. I’ve been in a few around here and they look large from outside but inside makes me almost claustrophobic.
I hate I’ve had to wait 20 years to move into this house but am glad we finally did it. Now I just have to get more photos and paintings hung on the walls to give a more “homey” feel.
We did see a guy fishing on the boat dock yesterday. We also walked in the grass. Had a great time.
They're doing a bridge replacement on SH 53 East of town. The vet has give me a detour idea for the upcoming visit on Friday. We will try that.

And now I gotta go. It’s kind of late and I watched too many shows. My eyes burn. Plus we had a 2 1/2 hour live chat with Steve tonight on his Patreon and though it was fun, it put me way behind on what I wanted to do.

It sounds like you like your new phone. A cell phone is something I’ve never had or wanted. A lot of folks like them but I don’t want to be bothered when I’m out and about. My friends know to leave a message on the answer machine and I’ll call them back when I get home. they think I’m weird ........ and they’re probably right. LOL
Ugh, bridge replacement. That will take a while. I hope the detour to the vet idea works out without too much hassle or delay.
Yes, it’s beginning to feel like it. Once we get the little “homey” things in place, it WILL feel like it.
I’m getting ready to head outside to see if there’s anything to watch. Storms are closing in and I’m starting to hear some rumbles. It would be nice to get at least one decent light show before going to bed.

Thanks for letting me share a few thoughts.
Hostages, high jackings, murders, bombings, IEDs… have been the fruit of the Iranian regime since I was a high school senior in 1979. Over those years we have had 6 yes six United States Presidents none of whom have provided an appropriate response to Iranian attacks on Americans.
I am very familiar with Iran’s thirst for American Blood. On October 23, 1983 I was less the 300 yds. away from Battalion Landing Team 1/8’s Headquarters frequently referred to as the Marine Barracks at the Beirut International Airport. At 0622 the morning of 23OCT83 a terrorist truck bomb blew up in the center of the 4-story concrete building with a blast magnitude of 20,000 pounds of TNT, a blast frequently described as the largest non-nuclear blast to occur on the face of the earth. We lost 220 Marines, 18 Sailors and 3 Soldiers KIA as well as over 100 more wounded. Those great men who occupied that building died a violent and traumatic death. Many bled out trapped under tons of concrete and rebar. These men were in Lebanon as part of a Multi-National PEACE-Keeping Force. Iran teamed up with its partner Hezbollah and, “a look the other way Syria,” to kill these Americans. I remember the speeches from our leaders as to how we will not rest until those who perpetrated this attack were brought to justice. Over 36 years have passed and Iran has actively engineered and carried out many more barbaric murderous attacks and torture of Americans with very little deterring response. Actually, not one of the 6 presidents prior to Donald Trump have done anything of substance to stop the savagery.
I am not a Middle Eastern Strategic Expert like we see on TV. I am a former Marine L/Cpl and have never been to Harvard. I am also an Independent voter and have never been a member of a political party. Bottom line, I am an American who LOVES this great country. In 2018, a large number of Beirut Vets and family members of those who were killed in Beirut were invited to the White House for a 35th anniversary year memorial event (first time that ever happened). My wife and I were in a position to see the teleprompter as President Trump gave a speech and when he started talking about Iran the teleprompter stopped while the President kept speaking. The President spoke from the heart and said Iran would not be allowed to continue hurting and killing Americans without consequence. A year later he stood true to his word. It took over 36 years for a president to FINALLY do something. An American was killed, two others were wounded, our Embassy was attacked and he precisely without collateral damage cut the head off the snake and firmly explained, any more killing of Americans will be met with absolute devastation. Thank You Mr. President for making a tough decisive call.
Finally, all of those who have access to a camera or microphone why do compete with each other for, “Ass Clown of the Year?” You memorialize a f#*king terrorist? WW3? The President has no plan? You folks with all your pompousness are really, really eaten up with a HUGE case of the Dumb Ass. The attack was necessary, precisely executed, our people were prepared for a counter and Iran was told what to expect in return if they killed again. The troops sent to the region are rapid deployment folks (great precautionary action). You all should stop vomiting on your expertise, stay away from the cameras and microphones it’s not working out for you.
