Iran admits IRGC shot down Flight 752, ending regime's Soleimani PR bonanza
It was a short-lived honeymoon for the Islamic Republic regime — a rare wave of popular support, drowned out by a bigger tide of government neglect and recklessness. Much as Iran's authorities may hate admitting the destruction of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 to other governments, they are almost certainly more concerned about the reaction from their own people. The regime's hopes of turning the assassination of Gen. Qassem Soleimani into a moment of renewal for its flagging fortunes were destroyed along with Flight PS752.
From the point of view of the Ayatollahs' regime, this situation is a nightmare scenario of incompetence, hypocrisy and lost opportunity.
More than almost any other event, the shooting down of Iran Air Flight 655 by the USS Vincennes in 1988 underpins the regime's narrative of American malignancy.
Iran's foreign minister, Javad Zarif, makes a point of referencing the crash on every anniversary.
And when U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Iran with strikes over the weekend, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani immediately responded with a tweet about the 290 people killed on that flight.
But within 48 hours his own side would also shoot down a jetliner full of innocent civilians, 147 of whom were citizens of Iran, according to the country's head of emergency operations.

Rachel Madcow says that this would have never happened if the United States . . . that is, Donald Trump . . . wasn’t poking Iran with a stick by murdering their wonderful general.

The preparations for Iran’s February 21 parliamentary election are already under way. Almost 16,000 people have registered to compete for the 290 parliamentary seats.

I am a caregiver to an Autistic young man and he always puts MSNBC on—so I have to sit there and try to ignore it best I can.
The young man has a reason to like them-—guess he relates to their mentally ill rantings.

They’re trying to deflect & weasel out of some of the blame - IRGC news outlet says that those who tried to hide the truth will be prosecuted & punished.

Saw a pilot say it had to be intentional. Flight plans would have been filed and approved. Of course, it is possible some idiot didnt check or even know how to check to see if it was approved flight

This is Iran. Obviously, the airspace should have been shut down & all flights cancelled. They left it up to the airlines to decide whether to fly or not.
Ukraine Airlines is also partially responsible. Other airlines cancelled their flights.

The explanation given is specious at best, indicative of Iran’s so severely dumbing down the populace that even anti-aircraft battery commanders and read the following signs:
1 - a jet LEAVING Iranian airspace FROM a local airport
2 - said jet having AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL following
3 - not able to determine airspeed and direction
4 - reading radar signature as a cruise missile not something several dozen metric tonnes larger in mass and similar surface area disparities.

An obvious and transparent lie serves no purpose whatsoever. In time of war, lies are so valuable they must be surrounded by a bodyguard of truth.
Of course, but I have also heard that the flight had been delayed for an hour. So it would have been an unexpected plane in an unexpected flight path.

Iran did to themselves what President Trump could not get liberal socialist Europe to do:
Unify Europe against Iran.
Now Iran will either change or starve.
The next act of Iran sponsored terror will bring a unified international response of ‘force majeur.’
And there will be no more back channel commercial traffic between Europe and Iran. Iran has blockaded itself.
China, North Korea and Russia will be plagued mercilessly for doing business with the Iranians.
Even Justin Trudeau ,Canada’s drama queen PM, that wet noodle of International politics, seems to have developed a spine.
